New Grower I love weed - So I had to Start Growing It! Purple Cheese, Diesel, Among others!

the scent of MJ growing is diff. then ordinary smoke smell. the smoke smell dissipate with the air after about 50-75 ft depending on Temp and wind speed. MJ growing how ever the odor is caused by Odor bacteria riding the pollen thats in all MJ plants and that however DOESN'T DISSIPATE IMAGINE pollen being cali surfer and the wind be the wave.

and since it does not dissipate the smell of growing Ganja can be smelled up to including 3 miles away depending on season,wind speed, and temp and location. its not uncommon for person/s wanting to find grow ops to simply drive thru neighborhoods with the windows down , and windows down and a k9. they call it Trolling or Sweeping. and they literally follow their nose to your door step. also why alot of indoor urban greenthumbs have stuck with strains that emit low to no odor :for example Northern lights emits very low to no odor until drying. or strains that dont smell like gaja i.e. Alienchem dog(garbage smell) ,Cotton candy (sweet or clean like fresh laundry candle smell) certain fruit strains


methods for odor control: in order on max benefit
1&2. Ozone Generator or Carbon Filter/HVAC
3.Ona odor control gel
4.????incense (not to be counted on IMO, but people do it)

Must agree with all the above. :thumbs: for a new grower I suggest picking up a bottle of advanced nutrients Connoiseur a&b ph perfect. With this nute checking ph is not nesscessary if using a no fert soil, or at least waiting 4-5 weeks before starting to feed. Start off at 1/4 strength. Also definitely get some more lighting! If you have a spare closet or something it's better off yo grow in there, you could even get away with painting the walls a flat off white... Aluminin foil is a def no-no! I see potential fire hazard my self! Just remember don't over water and try to not mess with them to much, though the urge not to is hard to resisit, my first grow i was looking at the hourly! You're going to do fine!Peace brother

They'll help with dirty laundry too, but that's off topic.

Erm, nice strain list. You should get some additional lighting for when the girls grow up. That t-8 will be fine for seedlings. Keep em about a foot over the canopy.

Watch your cab temps and see if you can't score a better reflective material. I would almost use white construction paper vs. aluminium foil - that creates hot spots - massively concentrated light that'll bleach yer little ones. Eh, you'll figure it out. TheSpacePope: Thanks for the very detailed explanation on the odour issue - I'm definitely sold ! I'll look around to find an option to get the smell out - does anyone know if Ionizers work as well for this purpose?

YodaBuds: The problem I thought with the closet was that my closet is nowhere near any window - It's in my bedroom. Tall closet space, that I would have no problem using, I will take pics and if anyone has any ideas on how to get it setup and going without smelling up my entire bedroom, then I'll definitely go for it.

Following a lot of advice on the foil - I'll get it removed and rely on the white wall of my bathroom/closet - I cant stand the thought of my house catching fire while I'm away @ work / and in the process getting busted.

GradoLabs: Thanks for the joint compliment hehe - Me and my roommate have been smoking the same garbage weed for the longest time, so when it came time to selecting the strains - we were looking for Quantity - as well as Speed + Quality + Exotic factor - and this was the result ! Very hyped and excited to finally have some quality , hopefully @least near to the quality I've smoked in Amsterdam. As far as lights - will be adding some CFL's in the mix but I've read around that they are a bad combination with the T8 Grow Bulbs due to the different "type" of light? Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Also - My next worry is Soil.

I read people talking about "feeding" and "nutes" and "coco soil" etc etc - I have no idea about any of this lol Any advice on that would be helpful - I'm definitely going to read through the stickies etc I'm just not sure when I have to start even thinking about anything else other than light/water - as you can see from photos I just have the standard composite soil - and other dirt the growing shop guy told me to mix with (Turns muddy/red when wet - Not sure if this is Cannabis Friendly - so for time being just using the standard soil).

All help is always appreciated - will take more photos for guidance and post them up tonight!

check out my GJ then cuz i have it setup just as you described in my closet, some say not near a window is bad but they again most havent seen what FLIR can see with their own eyes, my rig is aswell in my bedroom but instead of pumping hot air out witch any rookie can tell unnatural heat coming out of a room, do the reverse like i did, place a fan and draw cool air from the outside and flush the room and you will get a steady supply of cool O2 rich air and a the heat dispersers throughout the house so no unnatural heat Signature. i also i have a ionizer but they really are only made for small particles i mean it might work but im not 100% on that, i can only speak for myself who likes redundancy and i have a CF(passive system)+ionizer(in tent) + a Ona block(near window fan). but most would say thats a bit over the top.
