Nice that everyone chimed in for you to help ! Got to love AFN! Not all good news but could save you allot..soil is key..autos are very sensitive to ferts in the soil so be careful and start to water/cook you soil for 30-45 days to help balance it and get the micros going ..check out the TLO for dummies thread ..also nutes ..try sea grow..16-16-16 for veg and 4-26-26 for bloom ..great all in one for autos check out the sea grow thread also .molasses and epsom salt think you will be good to go then..white paint or mylar aslo..I think best to have 100 watts per plant..check the cfl/t5 lighting section! With a lil research from expert threads and growers we can make you a grow god in no time flat !GOOD KARMA TO U

If you're using the word nutes in air quotes, you probably have a bit more to study, lol. I/we can all help break it down for ya so it's easy to understand. We'll start with the basics. The three main nutrients cannabis, and really all plants use are nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorous. We use N, P, and K to represent those three main nutes. There's tons of others, just so you know - lots of micronutrients are also required, elements like iron and boron and calcium and magnesium. During vegetative growth, or the first few weeks, a higher ratio of nitrogen is healthy for plants as they use this to grow and stetch and get big and stuff. During bloom, or flowering, when your plants begin to produce bud, the smokable part of the plant, higher concentrations of P and K are required and too much N will slow the process down. That's why you'll see products like PK boost for bloom. There's a lot more to study here but I'll leave you with this for now.

Lol, though... "nutes" :roflcry:

Just a little input for you, I've just finished ,my last ghetto grow, on to a proper cuboard now lol, but yeah, as everyone here says, drop the foil for starters and the box shortly after, if your smoking freely throughout the house/flat I'm sure you could fashion some area to house the new babies your bringing into this world... if you dont look at them like that yet you soon will.
depends whether your in the UK or US tbh but one of the cheapest options for refective material is the silver sheeting people use on their car windscreens, not perfect but it'll do the job, next buy a couple of cheap attachable light fittings, you know the ones with the fitting for the bulb and a crocodile type clip to attach them somewhere. I used three of those all with standard supermarket bought energy saver bulbs ranging from 23w to 30w on two plants and after a little bit of LST'ing (research for later) and some TLC I pulled an oz from each plant. so its easily doable on a budget of £2.12 lol and that was a learn on the grow lesson for me.

Don't give up but make adjustments, it'll be worth it in the end.
Everyones here to help so holler if you get stuck.

Peace

Moving Sloowwww

Hello,

I'm sorry for not getting back to you guys until now, don't mean to make the thread look dead - were facing some difficulties and confusion the past few days following the initial recommendations not to have the cardboard box - and the foil etc. So we've had to rethink the entire operation.

I've been quite frustrated, because on the 21st around 22:00 I planted the first Speed Devil after i saw the seed open up after germination.
Following this, on the 22nd I planted the second Speed Devil around 10:00am, on the 22nd I also planted the Purple Cheese.

The date is now 25th of April - And neither Speed Devil has come out..... which is annoying, since they are Speed Devils. Should be coming out sooner than that supposedly :(
Our initial suspicion, is that the 2 x 18W T8 grow lights we have going are crap - and doing absolutely nothing for the plants, so what I did is take all three out on my balcony yesterday while the sun was there, after 9 or so hrs sun left so they had to go back under the crap light, and repeated the same today along with some watering.

I got back from work today and noticed the Purple cheese has just started coming out as you can see in the photo. We are strongly considering HPS 250WATT / 400 WATT light.

***I need help from you guys, in regards to the location / setup of the plants.

At the moment: Setup is in Bathroom - In the bathroom is a window - which is broken so hole is covered with plastic garbage bag - outside the window is a strange empty space in the middle of the building that leads up into the roof from the bottom - I've shown this in pics so you can get an understanding of where this area is , you can see it from the staircase leading up to my apartment. (NO NEIGHBOURS in building except glasses shop downstairs - and next door neighbour is helping me with the grow so... its all good ;)

Also note - the bathroom is directly on the left of the front door of the house - making the smell issue a little scary.

- I've been considering either of the following - but need help in terms of how i will push the heat out etc for each scenario :

Option 1: Spare room (Sorry for Mess, gf's cloth design room but shes moved out now so can take advantage of space) - just hang a HPS from the ceiling and straight up have the plants there in the open of the room and lock the door so nobody ever goes in - and I imagine somehow push the heat out the window you can see there.

Option 2: Closet in my bedroom - which you can see in photos - only problem here is that the closet, is on the complete opposite side of the window - how will i circulate air in a closed closet? And I can't open a hole in a wall or anything so thats out of the question for air circulation.

Any Ideas? All help appreciated -

I've also added photos of the Soil I'm using - says BIOCOMPOSITE SOIL on it - standard soil you would probably buy to say plant normal things - flowers etc.

Right, well,

There's two possible scenarios regarding your seeds not sprouting.

1st would be that you just need a little patience, I've had a couple of seeds take near 8/10 days before they showed their heads.
2nd and not a very nice scenario would be that the soil you are using is too 'hot' for your seedlings. Autoflowers seem to be very fussy when it comes to starter soil. I unfortunately am in the same boat atm as I'm using rather cheap seedling soil but I'm helping things out slightly by using some organic nutrients to bring the ph to the correct level. I'm sure someone here can recommend a suitable soil for your needs depending where your based.

Fingers crossed they're just being a bit lazy.

Regarding a new grow room, with your two options my first choice would be in the closet. Looks a fairly decent size for 3/4 comfortable plants.
with such an enclosed, harder to ventilate room such as your closet I would suggest looking at a 125w or 250w CFL instead, they will produce far less heat compared to HPS to your temperature/humidity/ventilation problems are a bit more manageable.

Again, someone else will have to step in for the extracting of the air in your room as with my last grows I've only had a fan circulating the air inside the room. The only time in extracted was when I opened the doors, which tbh was every half an hour checking on them. I suffered no problems with this but thats not to say having an extractor wouldn't have improved my conditions. It's all about what you can afford but with a CFL lamp and a fan point below the bulb you could be okay. See what other people have to say on that subject.

If your seedlings are sat on a windowsill near the open air I'd say move them somewhere a bit warmer. Try to keep the soil and pots at room temperature while your waiting for them. The cold could also stunt them.

Right, cuppa tea time n then I'll be back
