New Grower I love weed - So I had to Start Growing It! Purple Cheese, Diesel, Among others!

I'm sorry for not getting back to you guys until now, don't mean to make the thread look dead - were facing some difficulties and confusion the past few days following the initial recommendations not to have the cardboard box - and the foil etc. So we've had to rethink the entire operation.

I've been quite frustrated, because on the 21st around 22:00 I planted the first Speed Devil after i saw the seed open up after germination.
Following this, on the 22nd I planted the second Speed Devil around 10:00am, on the 22nd I also planted the Purple Cheese.

The date is now 25th of April - And neither Speed Devil has come out..... which is annoying, since they are Speed Devils. Should be coming out sooner than that supposedly
Our initial suspicion, is that the 2 x 18W T8 grow lights we have going are crap - and doing absolutely nothing for the plants, so what I did is take all three out on my balcony yesterday while the sun was there, after 9 or so hrs sun left so they had to go back under the crap light, and repeated the same today along with some watering.

I got back from work today and noticed the Purple cheese has just started coming out as you can see in the photo. We are strongly considering HPS 250WATT / 400 WATT light.

***I need help from you guys, in regards to the location / setup of the plants.

At the moment: Setup is in Bathroom - In the bathroom is a window - which is broken so hole is covered with plastic garbage bag - outside the window is a strange empty space in the middle of the building that leads up into the roof from the bottom - I've shown this in pics so you can get an understanding of where this area is , you can see it from the staircase leading up to my apartment. (NO NEIGHBOURS in building except glasses shop downstairs - and next door neighbour is helping me with the grow so... its all good

Also note - the bathroom is directly on the left of the front door of the house - making the smell issue a little scary.

- I've been considering either of the following - but need help in terms of how i will push the heat out etc for each scenario :

Option 1: Spare room (Sorry for Mess, gf's cloth design room but shes moved out now so can take advantage of space) - just hang a HPS from the ceiling and straight up have the plants there in the open of the room and lock the door so nobody ever goes in - and I imagine somehow push the heat out the window you can see there.

Option 2: Closet in my bedroom - which you can see in photos - only problem here is that the closet, is on the complete opposite side of the window - how will i circulate air in a closed closet? And I can't open a hole in a wall or anything so thats out of the question for air circulation.

Any Ideas? All help appreciated -

I've also added photos of the Soil I'm using - says BIOCOMPOSITE SOIL on it - standard soil you would probably buy to say plant normal things - flowers etc.

OK well u hvae a few options..go cheep or go big..1 lights depending on where u want to do it at like say the closet then you could go with a nice led then temps wont be a big issue. 2..you could go to the habitat,thrift,good will store and find a nice cab to make a stealth cab for around 20 or 30 bucks Like a metal gun cab or file cab or something tall also can get whit paint there too so cheep somtimes you can pass the drop off spots and find stuff.4 house doors would make a good cab....soil..make sure it doesnt have time relese nutes...and if you find that seeds are not pushing up after a 1 more day or 2 i say 1 but i would dig it up to make sure its not mush..i only say this cuz i had some bad seed starter that burned my seeds but i rescued them ..dont over water..you want root to dig deep and hunt and also not stay too wet...If you want to have a good grow dont skimp on soil and light and smell control..Get creative ..look around with grower eyes and see what the world brings you!

I talked it over with my roommate - and basically come to the conclusion the best idea would be to simple close off the spare room - leave the windows open - and the blinds shut - for air ventilation, have a Strong ass HPS hanging down from ceiling - and a fan to circulate the air in the room. Let me also put out there - We are not so worried about the smell, lets just say we have loving neighbours - were not worried about an entire bedroom being closed off for this purpose for 3 months, the idea excites me lol - so, what is bad about using a whole room for this? with a strong HPS , and a fan or 2, and all the air going out the window ?

you would need cool fresh air coming in, and the hot air going out the window. For HPS lighting, use a cool tube with a fan attached on on en pulling in air from the room and pulling it through the light, cooling it, and then the ducting can be venting to the outside. Example: Ventilation ducting -> HPS Cool Tube -> More Ducting -> Fan. The brighter the light, the more powerful fan youre going to need to cool it down, or you could stick a 15000 BTU air conditioner.

Well i would still make a room in the room so that you can get light bounce onto your plants ..they do sell that bathroom foam board or drywall would be good to make 2 sides from one corner of the wall..plus u might want to cover the windows ..i think that bright ass light coming out of 2 open windows would not be so good..and even if smell isnt that big of an issue ..why wait till its too late and you have a knock at the door..just sayin..just cuz peeps are cool now doesnt mean they will always be cool..even if its a parent..one fight could send u off to the pokey..just sayin!

As an update -

One of the Speed Devil # 2 's were not coming out of the soil after several days, so I thought I would go digging for it - I'm not sure how to explain but I hope you will understand, the little tail that comes out of the seed had come out alot, but when I found it - it was broken , detached just laying there.... so I guess it was a fail and threw it out.

The other speed devil is barely poking out of the soil after 5 or so days - hopefully that will be on it's way soon.

As for the Purple Cheese - As you can see in the photos she is growing, Happy to have entered this world looking healthy

At the moment I have them sitting on the balcony, the sun is much much better than those T8's I have in there with all that foil and cardboard B.S lol

I planted the Auto Onyx in the place of the failed Speed Devil - and I have a G13 - Auto Diesel Germinating on the way
