Lighting If you had $5000 to blow on leds for your room - what would you buy?

Price is one, LEC/CMH is just the last gasp of an old, dying technology. Its like putting a turbo on a Model T Ford......interesting but not worth the money. I'll put my 300 watts of DIY COB led against any HPS tech!

Remember, DIY is an oiption, your could build some killer lights budget like that!

What about plasma? Ever considered that? The only reason we dont see heap loads of them is solely because of price.

Just curious I got a couple timber COB fixtures and now have CO2 to add to setup. Question being is there any issue with running CO2 around uncovered COB fixtures? Do I need to cover with anything, and what works?

You only use CO2 at night, right?

Any help on this would be appreciated

not hard to spend that much. I've probably got that in my room over a three year period. And my setup still looks ghetto compared to many

CO2 will have no affect on your lights.

Just curious I got a couple timber COB fixtures and now have CO2 to add to setup. Question being is there any issue with running CO2 around uncovered COB fixtures? Do I need to cover with anything, and what works?

You only use CO2 at night, right?

... If I had $5,000 I wouldn't be blowing it on lights... I would be investing in lights. Investing in lights that would last me 3-5 years. Making sure that I wasn't buying into technology debt. Investing into something that is scalable and sustainable over a long period of time, say 2-5 years? For my I probably wouldn't dive into the latest and greatest. I would probably purchase the best tech that was verified stable, and that would be effortless to maintain.

Just my two-cents, but I would never 'blow' money on anything, if you can avoid it. Like a diamond, that's blowing money... LOL sry ladies.

Timber was a deal a few months ago but currently it's no comparison to sourcing your own parts. I bought plenty of those kits when parts came to 85per cob separately. Then add in the fact he is using 35 watt sst105 heatsinks on 50w driven cobs and no explanation when I voiced my concern. Still a decent kit just not as economical as it once was.

As far as new tech taking over, in my main room I'm still running 3070's which are very old at this point. I still pull around 1.5gpw with the 3070's like I did when they were new. New cobs could help but not worth the upgrade until they become allot better then what I have now.

Also very expensive considering citizens price and performance. You can buy 3 citizens and a coffee vs 1 Cree.
