Grow Mediums James' first grow - DP Autoglueberry with autopots

Hi Guys,

I am a bit worried at the development of my girls, it have not been over watering. They have had 750ml day before bean drop, 750ml day five and 775ml day nine.

My temp has not been 28°c hovering around 24-26°c. Could this be a factor for the slowish growth? Any guidance would be great guys. Thanks

They look good. Plants do like it a little warmer as seedlings and in veg but nothing wrong with the range you have. I have my my extraction fan on a thermostat this time of year and keep it between 22-27c during veg. Shutting down the extraction fan also causes the plants to get a little more humidity than they would normally have this time of year.

:pop:Subbed up and ready to go. Here's a :slap: to get ya started for having such a nice looking setup.

This is probably more info than you want but the first 21 days are the longest and some of the most important days with autopots and I thought seeing my schedule might give you some ideas on how you want to do it.

Lights, I run two LED panels that in veg use 180 watts at the wall. I move them as high up as I can and run them 24/0 from the seed drop. I do this to help warm the tent and so the instant my baby pokes her coties out of the coco they have a light to head to. My lights have to be up that high to keep from damaging the seedlings.

Seeds, I am horrible with germinating and the transplanting so I start by putting my seeds in a shot glass of pH for 24 hours. As soon as I see them crack and show their tails I put them directly into the coco and water 500ml in in a small circle around the seed. Once they show themselves, I call that day one. I also use a humidity dome until they are a few days old.

I then wait until day five and water another 500ml in a small circle around the girl so the water goes straight down, to promote her roots heading straight for the bottom. I wait 24 hours after each feeding and vacuum up the excess water if any from the trays. Then on day 10 and day 15, I water 750ml and 1 liter respectively, again ignoring the whole pot and concentrating on a five inch in diameter circle around the base. On day 20, you should have a young lady that reaches the sides of the Autopot and you might even notice some increased vigor signaling the roots hit bottom and she is ready to push upwards. I then water the entire pot with 1.5 liters, wait 24 hours and turn on the reservoir.

I use this schedule because in the past I was an "over-waterer":sadcry:, yes I admit it I have loved a few seedlings to death. This keeps me focused and seems to work with my combo of coco/perlite YMMV.

Hope it helps and welcome aboard the Autopot train. :baked:

This is a great piece of info....this should be a sticky and members like hans and 2s2c, pops et all can add their brand of proven info.

Thanks for the reassurance guys.

I am using th AN PH perfect range, after my tap water is left sitting a few days the pH jumps from 7.4-8.4, at these early stages of growth the amount of sensi grow in the feed mix is minimal therefore i think does not balance the feed mix so i have been pH down to 5.8 before i give it to the plants. Would you say i am doing the right thing, i dont feel that i want to give them a mix of feed at 8.4ph. As the nute amount increases as they grow would you still PH? I am worried about high ppm now and have no EC meter

The plants look alright though i suppose.

I have the same sitch, I ph to around 6 before feeding in coco. Takes quite a bit of ph down to balance my tap water. I also try and ph the water to 7 before i add the nutes, wait a day, then add the nutes. That way all the buffers in the water get adjusted and the ph stays more stable.

Im not sure of your guys location but a ppm/ec meter is a great addition to your kit. You can get them quite cheap on ebay/amazon. I use canna coco and their process is quite specific. Usually they have directions on the side of the bottle as how to ph. Personally i would let the water sit 24 hrs then add the nutrients, let that sit several hours mixing it periodically then ph last.

With stuck seed shells, its good to spray them with water a few times in a day, then if the don't come off, wet them again before trying to remove, the softer the shell, the less likely to damage the seedling when you remove it.

Hey @James0807 sometimes the seed shell gets stuck on like that, usually it will fall off by itself but sometimes they may need a bit of assistance... I'd give it about 12 hours above ground and it if it's still stuck on then very gently pull it off with some tweezers.
