I thought matcha was tea served still in the water in which it was steeped, ground leaf and all. To be fair, the appearance didn't put me off. It was just bad tea.

Also, your secret is safe with me and my cupboard of various teas!

Yes it is, but I have had green tea with loose macha in the foil wrapper. So the bag is steeped and the macha stays in the water. I imagine it isn't a great grade and should be prepared different, but I just put it all in (bag removed after of course).
Tomorrow I'll be buying more tea now, damn you
