New Grower LED UFO 90W: Optimal distance to the plants?

No the opposite! dehumidifier!
I believe that you wont get water running from the sides if you put your humidity on 40% and have enough air-circulation from your extraction fan!
The surrounding air outside the tent is so dry that it will adsorb all the moister! "My 2 cents"

Dr60 or a gl60 would do you much better than a shower curtain..space will be fine inside ans you will def get better light pen
That's interesting. Both of you. Won't be happening anytime soon tho, because it will be quite expensive from my current position. I've already spent a small fortune on the gear I have now, this month, but perhaps in third grow or so. I do know that Secret Jardins can heal some excellent results! But if my current setup heals a fair yield and quality etc., then I just might stick to it. Who knows, I'm a sucker for new gear after all :D ..Thanks guys.

I use a 90w ufo led. The maker of my ufo led recommendations these heights:

During veg. stage: 30cm/12 inches to 60 cm/24 inches above the plant canopy. I keep the led about 30cm above the plant.

During flowering stage: 15 cm/6 inches or closer.

I didn't buy much gear, the led was my most expensive cash outlay. As you can see in the photos, I grow 1 plant at a time and just for personal use (and for my wife). The strain has to be a strain that doesn't grow large as I just can't accommodate a large monster, so indicas work best for me (and we prefer indicas anyway). Other than the ufo led, I've bought a cardboard box, mylar sheet, a fan, seeds, soil, nutes and a chain to hang the ufo light from the light socket in my closet so I can adjust the height of the ufo led above the plant canopy. I've been extremely happy with my grows! Patience is what I've learned to be the most important aspect of growing. Best of luck! :peace:

Oh, thanks for that info, and nice setup you got there. If it works, it works, right :)

And yea, I use a chain too.

Thanks again for the input, I lowered my UFO a bit after reading it, since I'm in the early flowering phase now :)

i would lower it again to 10-15cm from the top as recommended and get those cfl lights down to side level, you have some serious stretch going at the moment which could be a recipe for fluffy buds down low

Well, they are at 15-20cm from the UFO each now. They're some ~30cm from it in that photo, the stretch is moreso because they only had a 15W LED to begin with for the first 22 days. A silly little lamp. You can see it all in my journal. It was an experiment.

good job, i see what you mean the pics can be deceiving, just want you to get good buds as its a shame to go to all the effort and have your reward halved which can be avoided with some small adjustments.

goodluck dr ill be following

Yea, I sure want to avoid that, hehe. And your input is much appreciated, dude :D

Thanks for starting this thread. I just ordered a couple UFO 90Ws and had the same questions.

I think the wattage of the individual LED's matters. If I put my 90w LED's that close to a plant they would sunburn/stunt it big time. (I have done it more than once)

The LED UFO's I use have 3 watt LED's. Beam angle may also be a factor. I find that if I go lower than 20-22 inches (approx 60cm) plants get stunted or burned (depending on life cycle stage).

UFOs can use LED's anywhere from 1 watt to 5 watts each, and I imagine that distance will vary based on the individual wattage, and perhaps also the beam angle as well.

I personally had a very hard time finding the sweet spot of my LED's. I eventually sort of got a feel for it by watching node distance and keeping close eye on the tips of the leaves to watch for sunburn. I lost SO much time to having LED's stunt the shit out of my autos because they were too close. I highly recommend trying to error on the side of too far and working your way in cautiously.

Good luck ladies and gents ;D !
