Lighting LED VS. LED (brands)

I don't know about you guys. But I would really like to see a shoot off between two major brands. IE: kind vs black dog. Mars vs. spectrum king....
What y'all think? I currently use a kind k5 but would really love to see a shootoff

I have lumigrow pro 325's and Mars II 700's, both draw about the same watts. There is no comparison Mars are junk. They're research consists of watching us growers and making changes based on our experience. They should pay for that expertise. With lumigrow the research is already done, the product lasts for ever and your insurance will pay off if your grow is legal. Not so with Mars.

Meening when Mars Burns your house down insurance won't pay.

One day I might buy a couple of the low priced Chinese lights and run them against my current Grow Pro X5 300's. At the moment, I have too many led lights that are collecting dust.

Mars has their place in the market and not everyone can afford a high end led. I have seen Mars panels grow some great herb here. Also, yes, We/Us growers have spoken and Mars has listened!! Looks like we are helping the with the R&D in their lights to only make them better! That is a win-win, even if someone doesn't like their goods or has a bad opinion of them.

Here is why the led showdown will never happen here on AFN. Each led vendor has their own section. None of the vendors are crossing the line, going into other threads to bash one another. Its something we dont allow here on site gentlemen, you all know that. We all keep the vibe, we being all members, including yourselves, right?

Nothing wrong with trying the cheaper leds! I know I have a few Viparspectra's. For the price I paid, I should expect a cheaper panel to not last very long, including Mars, but they are getting better with lessons learned with AFN members giving feedback! But for the price paid, if it burns up, I now have a shell to build my DIY cob panel on the cheap!! Gotta think in terms of the positives, not the negatives!

I'd love to know more about this site, but I just can't find any coherent explanation on what this site is about. What's a slap? A rep? Where do they come from? Nice people here, but allot lacking for the Noob trying to find there way around. Stickies and such really don't tell us much idk how to be s full participant here,

I did see rules about posting a review some place, It think said you had to document a Grow with an LED to review one.

I'll never use a Mars if I have anything else available so I won't be documenting a grow with them. The 3 I bought cost more than I paid for any single lumigrow and all had failure within 9 months. Buying you're kit over and over again is never cheaper. Guys they should pay you! For doing all there RnD! And then breaking down[emoji31] [emoji20] [emoji35]

looking at your stats, you have been here since Sept 30 2013, so that hardly qualifies you as a noob and we have the best staff around, helpful and outgoing, so if you have questions about site issues, this is NOT the thread.

If you had a problem with your Mars panels burning out @ 9 months, they would have still been under Warranty from mars. So you should have taken it to them, but yes, we do require a documented grow then a review. Again, if you had issues, thats between you and Mars, this is NOT the thread to complain about your experience with Mars.

I have been running a blackstar for over five years, at 20/4. another blackstar for over four years also at 20/4 I don't know how many hour's that is? I am not gonna do the math.

when it comes to led panel's most are way to expensive!!!! these panels cost 500 to 1100 dollars, and they work well! BUT and this is a big BUT a panel that cost 250 dollars can and will grow bud just as well.
so why spend all that extra money. to much pure hype going on. THIS is my opinion. it hurts me to see good people sell themselves out, when they get panels to test. and rave about them,
you know who you are. these panels that are now advertised on afn, most are not worth anywhere near what they cost. they work just fine, as well as the inexpensive panels do.

Thanks @biman for the link, your right I signed up along time ago. Haven't participated till just recently. I'm finding I like the people, but get very frustrated trying to figure the site out.

Mars would have given me the parts you fix my panels. They even had some good upgrade offers for people who got the thier crap panel.

They may have learned to not trust their suppliers and do their quality control of components before assembly so they can deliver a product that can grow arrested and UL approved so you're insurance will conver your grow.

You must think through all costs of growing to get your value. For instance I value my time more than most other THINGS. I do electronics projects for fun, but replacing all those lens and power supplies to.....

Do it all again ever 6-9 months, na just dosnt work for me.

I did test the limits of my Mars. It has the 2x2 footprint in flower as advertised and will get dense bud 18 down. So if I use two of those I can cover the same area as my 600 HPS and honestly the 600 will do a few more sq ft than two Mars. So for the same watts can get less weed only heart reduction is the kids of all infrared making your plants into little heat radiators.

BTW thanks again for the link, I found a post about vender support badges and a sticky about phone safety. I have seen those in my site searches, still don't know anything really?
