Surface prep is everything! I have never used any form of a glaze. That's just a band aide for a crappy surface prep..........and a few washes later the scratches reapear.Mornin' yall... @WildBill you have stirred my own ocd about cleaning ya ride. Last week while we had some 70's temps, I got started too.
My ocd came from....in the '50's, my two brothers and I seemed to be always tasked with washing Dad's car on saturday morns...oh we did it in earnest..got good at it..but seemed we always had to do it again and again... we learned it was a diversion so Dad had some time with Mom but we all grew a love of keeping a car clean and shiny.
How funny that my 'rat-race' career was in the automotive field, servicing manufacturers like Ford, GM, Chrysler, Peterbilt etc about how to keep paint on products and look good long term. The primary and best secret is cleaning the surface before anything else...Clay Bar has been the best product for prep ever. After done with it, it's all down hill racer ready.....
His claim to fame was being the owner of a very large and evidently very profitable pornographic website. I was at a regular weekly car meet with my friend's Mach1 that I had just given a full on national car show style detail and paint correction. It was red, so it really stood out. It especially stood out when Mr. Rob passed by with the sun setting. Here's a guy with 7 or 8 new supercars in his collection and stops and comments this lowly Mustang!

Yep!I did my truck last year. Washed, clayed, rinsed, wiped down with a paint prep solvent to remove anything left behind down to the paint/clearcoat. Machine polished with a polish/sealant to remove fine scratches. Beautiful shine. Took me two days. I see why it costs so much to have someone else do this. But pretty cool when you accomplish it yourself.
My contribution to April...how bout some old rock from the '70s...saw this group in Memphis several times in the old days....
