New Grower Lumatek or Phantom

I'm about to pull the trigger on ordering a 400 hps set up........but never tried digital ballast.......heard lots of horror stories....maybe you guys can help point me in the right direction. And bulb compatibility thanks

I've run electronic ballasts with no problems. Less heat from them compared to the magnetic ones. But I would highly recommend LEDs over either. Less heat to deal with and while the up front cost is higher, LEDs are cheaper in the long run when you take factor in the savings on electricity and periodic replacement of HPS bulbs.

I've used Phantoms for three plus years and never had any problems. That being said, I've had two Lumateks shit the bed over the years. I always use Eye Hortilux or Digilux bulbs.

IMO, the Phantoms are the best HID ballasts I've ever seen/used, and are worth the extra few dollars. :thumbs:
