afternoon gents , I’m a couple week in to flower and just wanted to ask a few questions to get some advice on my mainlining technique. So I’ve always just topped to get the 8 colars and the main line shape , pruned off all leafs and side branches under where my canopy will be then flipped them to 12 -12 wait till they’ve stopped stretching the pruned leaves covering bud sites and the very low side branches to get maximum light penetration and minimise Laff but leaving a good number of side branches still .
I was just wondering if I should take off all side branches to maximise the size of all 8 colars on the 10 plants? . Will Doing so actually increase yield or should I keep in with what I’m doing ? TIA

The purpose of main lining is to optimize hormones and nutrition by splitting the main stem into two efficient pathways. You can have 8, 16, 32, 64, etc. main colas so if your canopy is even and the side branches are where you like then I believe it is fine.

Yes my plants are all identical looking with the H shape as the online guide explains but I was just wondering about side branches as I’ve a buddy who swears by just have 8 main colars and says it improved his yield , thanks for your help

Depends on genetics and pot size but SOG and SCROG would still be superior. I yield more through LST and super cropping then main lining. Cut or keep, I'm not sure how much it matters

I use 25 litre air pots I use 8-10 but I have a weird size/shape grow space being 1.3ish meter wide and just over 2m long . I was actually thinking of maybe small pots but more of them maybe 12-14 you reckon it would increase my yield that way with sog or scrog , problem would be watering with this many as my door is bang in the middle , ill upload a pic later when the girls are awake lights off at the minute. Maybe you'll be able to advise me then

Also I’m using mother plants next time so I think a scrog or sog from cuttings would be quicker turn around then mainlining every time aswell
