Juicing is a great way to get lots of nutrients into your body quickly.

If you have a chronic, debilitating disease it's best to juice organic only.

If you aren't seriously ill, organic source material isn't a necessity, depending on your attitude (or your body's resilience) toward pesticides on our food-crops.

If you have a high-speed, centrifugal juicer the heat cause by the friction of the blades destroys 40% of the beneficial enzymes contained in the juice.

It's best to have a two-stage, masticating juicer, which slowly grinds and presses the fruit and veg without excess heat being generated.

These slow juicers used to be very expensive but there is a new breed of them on the market for around £60 ($90).

Here are some on Ebay UK :

Here are some on Ebay US :

I recently gave up smoking but found that running was difficult since my lungs had difficulty after only 1 mile.

Fruits and vegetables all contain amazing minerals, enzymes, vitamins and the like that have some surprising capabilities.

I thought i'd start this thread and post some links to recipes that explain why the particular fruits/veg in the recipe were chosen and what there specific benefits are.

1. Turmeric Sunrise (delicious and really zingy, i use half the amount of everything in this recipe).

https://juicerecipes.com/recipes/turmeric-sunrise-98

2. Love Your Lungs (not tried this yet but will get some pineapples and some dandelion juice soon and give it a go).

I'll post additional ones as i find them.

The Gerson Therapy has been going since the 1920s and many individuals have had fantastic results in battling illnesses as serious as cancer purely by drinking huge amounts of juice.

Unfortunately it can be very expensive because seriously-ill patients can consume the juice of 20LB of fruit and veg a day, especially pricey if your source material is organic.

7 Foods to Detox Your Lungs Right Now

POSTED ON APRIL 24, 2014 BY DREW CANOLE

Whether your lungs are taxed from air pollution or self-pollution, they are vital. Like the brain, heart, kidneys and liver, we need the lungs to live. Besides delivering oxygen from the air we breathe to our blood, while keeping all the other junk from the air out; the lungs also expel carbon dioxide, a byproduct of carbon and oxygen diffusion in the body.
The lungs first defense is the cellular lining of the walls, which regenerate about every 2-3 weeks. The deeper tissue in the lungs, the alveoli, takes about a year to regenerate. So how can we assist the body in making new lungs? Check out these techniques and foods to help you nourish your lungs back to health.
Just Breathe
While there are a host of beneficial herbs, vegetables and fruits that help the lungs regenerate, the most advised method for detoxing the lungs is to practice regular breathing exercises. There are many basic and more involved breathing techniques. The act of even doing the most basic breath work on a consistent, daily basis will be most important for getting lung health back on track or maintaining lung strength and wellness. Better quality air will produce better results.
7 Foods to Detox the Lungs
Grapes and Resveratrol
Resembling the alveoli of the lungs, grapes have many health benefits that include reducing your risk of lung cancer and emphysema. Grape seeds are also said to reduce the severity of asthma because of the chemical proanthocyanidin when brought on by allergies.
Grapes help inhibit the release of compounds that cause inflammation on the cell lining of the lungs with the help of resveratrol, an antioxidant found in all grapes, with larger quantities in the red and purple varieties. Mostly concentrated in the skins of grapes, this powerful fruit can help aid the lungs and the whole body in many ways.
Pineapples and Bromelin
The lungs are subject to abuse by merely living on our planet, add with the possible self-inflicted damage caused by smoking or pollutant exposure maybe from work, the lungs collect debris and become less elastic over time. The enzyme bromelin is believed to assist the lungs in moving debris and detoxing naturally. A glass of fresh pineapple juice helps prevent the build up of mucous in the throat and lungs all while helping the lungs clear out old garbage.
Celery and Organic Sodium
Sodium is considered one of the important elements in the elimination of carbon dioxide from the body; as such a deficiency of vital organic sodium can result in bronchial and lung troubles. Get a rich source of organic sodium from celery and help the lungs perform better.
Asthma sufferers’ benefit from including celery and fresh celery juice to their diet on a regular basis as it contains high levels of Vitamin C, helping to reduce inflammation in the lungs among the many benefits.
Dandelions and Magnesium
Dandelion juice is rich in calcium, potassium and sodium, all beneficial to the health of the lungs. Dandelions also happen to be one of our richest plant based sources for magnesium and iron. Magnesium is a builder of the body cells, particularly the tissue of the lungs and nervous system. However, to be operating efficiently, the magnesium salts need a sufficient amount of calcium as well. The Dandelion delivers and if you don’t have access to fresh dandelions, lettuce makes a great second choice, also rich in magnesium and calcium.
Parsnips and the Phosphorus-Chlorine Connection
Parsnips are said to enhance bronchial function, helping to diminish the severity of asthma while enhancing blood circulation within the lungs. The phosphorus-chlorine combination is considered the reason parsnips are so great for the lungs and bronchial system.
Carrots and Vitamin A
Scientific studies of rats given high doses of Vitamin A had a lower chance of developing lung disease then those who were deprived of the nutrient, as such is has been linked to lung health. Extensive human studies suggest that a diet including a few carrots a day could cut the rate of lung cancer in half. Carrots are rich in Vitamin A, C and lycopene; great antioxidants that lower the chances of lung disease and improve overall lung health.
Cilantro and Heavy Metals
Cilantro has long been known to aid the body in removing heavy metals, the accumulation of which has been linked to lung disease as well as main other conditions affecting the body. The chemical compounds found in cilantro loosen toxic metals from the lung tissues by binding to them.
Try this yummy juice and add this into your routine or fast for a powerful boost to help your lungs detox and heal:
