Mini Kratky 1.0

Here it is, ready to go! The bucket is a mayonnaise jar painted black. I cut out the lid with a 2" hole saw.Got my seed soaking now just wait...I'm excited! LOL, my curiosity gets the best of me sometimes and I just had to try this! I have a regular Kratky bucket running right now, and I thought: Maybe and organic one would be even better. My thinking is, that with a good colony of beneficial microbes in the bucket already, there will be no room for the bad stuff...lol! Last night, I filled the teaball with some used organic soil, soem soil scraped of my compost pile, a pinch of composted manure, and a dusting of Growmore Organic Soil Builder. I added rain water to the bucket and put the teaball in. I checked this morning and she's just bubbling away! I'll dilute the tea before I put the seedling in and slowly increase the strength of concentration in the3 container.

UPDATE: I'm now on version 1.1....lol! I changed the design of the bucket and instead of using the foam, I'm going to use a 2" net pot as it fits perfectly. The seed has gone from soaking to a paper towel to germ. I'll leave it a couple days or until it has at least 1" tap root, then plant it in the net pot.

Like it buddy, so go on, what the heck is a Kratky?!:Sharing One:
Krakty is the guy who researched this method and wrote a paper on it.

You use no pumped air, and you don't change the res. You leave 1-2" of airspace below the net pot so that the roots hang down thru that space, They absorb oxygen from that space by growing oxygen absorbing hair roots. This is suppose to keep the roots and the bucket healthy- no root rot. Now for Cannabis, I may or may not have to change the res in flower. I'm hoping that if it survives the organic nutes, I won't need anything else.

Very Interesting Pops

I got me a Kalamata Olive containter (already black), maybe I will use that, ifn' I ever get to need a new project.

Someday.....

Can't wait to see this in action.

That is very very cool.

Thanks! Yes I find it interesting, and I had just enough room to squeeze it into my veg cabinet. In fact, I may end up tossing a couple more plants that don't look good from the water. If this works, I'd like to try using four, 5 gallon buckets for a grow. I saw a lettuce grow in a greenhouse this way, and that greenhouse got very hot, yet never a problem in the Kratky table and they used floating rafts, so not even an airspace!

This guys has some great videos, but sometimes he just talks too much...lol! I think you'd like this guy Eek.

Hell yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your ingenuity is incredible pop!!! :)

Today's the day! I just transfered the seedling to the Mini Kratky bucket. Now we see if she grows or dies....lol! The compost tea seems to have turned out ok, no nasty smells coming from the bucket. She's in the veg cab under the Topled 180 watt UFO for lighting.

Dang dude that rig looks really neat and nice! I bet it will work great! I'll have to go get caught up... Btw every time I see "Kratky" my eyes or brain turn it into "Crotchky" lmao
Edit: caught up now, I do really like the net pot and clay instead of the foam. Looks better and I suspect it'll work better :)
