Lighting My First Grow - Northern Lights Blue

I agree with Larky, Although many do just germ in the soil, i prefer to do the paper towel thing so i know the tap root is there before planting, That saves a lot of waiting around and i always end up digging around to see if the root has emerged, but i am VERY impatient lol Set up looks good tho - all the best!

Haha, I can see what you mean, someone suggested digging carefully with a toothpick but I resisted with all my heart! Hopefully both seedlings will be healthy, in my limited experience its better to just let it do its thing, as naturally as possible

I've tried a few different ways of germination, all seem to work for me, keeping em going is my problem!
The only problem I did have was the paper towel method, didn't check for a day and the root had grown through the towel and I snapped it
In my short experience I'd say germination is a preference and the easy part.

I just like soaking the seeds for 24hrs and hit the dirt, no messing.
Interesting to see you using BAC PK13/14. I was looking at the BAC stuff, its hard to find grows with them. I only found one at it yielded the most out of 4 different nutes. There grow contains mag and cal. Green's says if used with there lava soil and myco's it will far surpass BioBizz and Canna etc.

Your going to have a great yield with your setup bro. I'm so blown away with my 2 remaining girls, the diesel sits comfortable under the led and is seriously chunky today, have fun with the GN's

Hey Mr Kip, nice to have you on board Greens sent me out some nutrients by mistake, the BAC pk booster was one of those, i dont think the ratio is quite 13/14, if i remember correctly its in a three part ratio (0-0-0) so will be interesting to see the benefits it can provide, luckily it was organic - win!
I'm really looking forward to seeing the results i can get using LED, anyone I know that has ever grown has always stuck with HPS (I know, it works) but I dunno I just like my new technology and efficient ways of doing things! the maximum height I can get the light from the plants is 32-34", hope they dont shoot up too quickly in the early stages! Will post an update with a few pics shortly

Update!

Hey guys, hope everyone is well. Quick update to show you the progress of my girls, and for anybody that can't be bothered to scroll back I germinated straight into soil on the 11/4/13, they showed their heads on 14/4/13 - i'm calling this day 1.

So this is technically a Day 3 update, here are a few pics

This is the lady on the right.

And this is the left lady, growing slightly ahead of the other at this early stage.

They're over an inch long already, are they stretching for the light or is that normal for their age? Any comments/feedback is greatly appreciated as I'm still new to all of this! Thanks guys, take care.

I don't mind a little stretch when they are that size, I'm sure it will stop once they settle, what is the distance of your light?? you want it 24inch for about the first 7 days I think. My diesel did this and she was fine, you will soon see how the she may be quite dense in veg with tight internodes, but she will open up.

I'm thinking about raising my lights even higher on my next grow, to try and open them up even more in veg, I like to have bigger internodes, it just works better for me in my small area I have to work with.

A little tip though bro. I have recently discovers that my plant may have there defs are the powerful PAR, mainly mag so just keep an eye out, especially since your organic.

And about the HPS thing, I wouldn't worry your light there bro will give any equivalent HPS a run for it money. Dan told me they are the same as a 400w HPS... Maybe, but that's good enough for me

Hey man, thanks for the karma I love waking up each day to see them a little bigger and stronger!
My light is at 30" right now (following Tang's guidelines in the GN manual) I have room for a few inches more if I replace the clips holding it in place but all seems well so far.
I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for deficiencies, a few people have mentioned it with organics but I'll just have to watch the plants carefully - all green right now at day 4
