I aborted two grows, about 20 seeds total, using HP Promix and mega crop. Both grows got to day 20ish and were all runts and underdeveloped. Not sure why but the plants did not thrive at all. I have heard HP can have bugs in it. So I switched back to coco and this new grow is rocking. Just fantastic. My plants on day 15 are many times better than the ones I did with HP. And coco is pretty forgiving especially for a new grower who is likely going to overwater a bit because it is porous and drains well. I would recommend 100% coco. Don't mix any other amendments in it like earth worm castings. Just coco. Maybe some perlite or hydroton clay balls. And you could add in your own MYCORRHIZAE around the roots of the seedling when transplanted. You can get the bricks of Canna coco in Canada for cheap and they would ship easily too if you have to order online. You don't need to wash the Canna coco. Just precharge it with some weak nutrient feed and water. Coco is also a greener medium than peat - less environmental impact. And you can reuse coco after a grow.

Other people have done well with HP promix but not sure about it and Megacrop. This is just my personal opinion based on personal experience and possibly a bad bale of HP promix.

Thanks for the help, I think your right about the coco,I do have slight over watering problems, forgot to mention I did grow a couple outside before and that was one of my biggest problems lol I think I’ll look into coco a little farther

just know that if you go the coco route you had better also get a quality ph meter!! The usable nutrient window is small when using coco, and it'll make or break your grow. i know that my limited post count might make me look like a rookie, but i assure you that i am one of the most experienced growers on this entire site.

+1 on the PH meter. A must have. Better than the drips or strips.

I have my blue labs ph meter picked out and hopfully a ppm meter too.I’m definitely a rookie grower, I have also been logging the hours into reading as much as I can, my main concern is overfeeding, weird anxiety I guess. I plan on to grow 3 to 4 autos in a 4x4 tent with auto cobs from cobshop and try this mega crop, I originally planned on doing tangs easy auto feeding schedule With advance nutrients. Something with a daily schedule that I could follow easily

Imo megaCrop and coco no need to pH really at all several don't, I don't, it's pretty stable, megaCrop, measure spoons set and water is it, yes u can add other things but not necessarily and u could get the swing of things easier and still be safe. Just my opinion but. All the gadgets complicate the MegaCrop when just tsp measurements is all that's needed to be calculated imo. 1/2tsp is appx. 4g, the brown balls in mega is the Nitrogen, see burn just don't add as many in ur scoop next time u will see the tip burn and claw back off. Just my observations, happy growing.

If you are in Calgary I'll give you my AN Bloom A+B gallon jugs and overdrive and some other jug I have. I used Tangs Easy schedule before I switched to MC. Tangs Easy schedule is nice because you just use the Bloom nutes so you buy less bottles of AN. If you have to buy new nutes then Greenleaf is the way to go. Much cheaper than AN. I bought the 10KG bag of MC and some Sweet Candy and Bud Explosion and had it shipped up to me. Still way cheaper than AN even after shipping. Vaccu sealed mason jars full of Megacrop and I have enough to last me a couple of years easy.

If you go with Greenleaf and coco you should be good. Start out germing in paper towels if you can. Its better for a newbie I think because you can see the germination happen with your eyes instead of the seed being buried. And then after 2-3 days you'll have tap roots. Drop those in 16 oz solo cups with lots of drainage holes with 100% coco and water sparingly. I use a digital scale to weigh the cups dry and then with ideal moisture and that is my baseline. And I dunk the bottom of the cups in feed solution instead of top watering to promote that tap root to go down. After I bottom dunk I weigh the cups to make sure they are not too wet/moist. After 11 days or so you're ready to transplant to final pots of coco.

I find it depends on your water source as to whether you need to measure PH and up or down it. One source I was good to just leave it be and not up or down it. But with another water source the PH was too low and I have to up it. So I think a PH meter is critical at least for the start. Esp for a newbie. If you don't get that PH right, with coco, and MC, you will likely have issues. I don't advise flying blind on PH.
