Lighting new GN Units

from gn we are defiantly dispatching the units today with UPS but it may take up to 2 days being this time of year.

when I smoked joints I would buy a pack of 10 a day. Currently a 10 pack of B&H sells between approx £4- £5 {just checked prices at Tesco online} x 365 day = £1460 - £1825 approx.

This does not include buying King size Rizla at £1 a pack plus the need to buy lighters which constantly get nicked by other smokers, add to that buying flint and lighter gas if you can manage to hold on to your lighter.

Now I just vape and also use less weed because I am not constantly rolling joints, in part due to being addicted to tobacco.

So now I save almost a couple of grand a year by giving up tobacco alone and by growing my own weed {saving easily a few more grand}, saving even more money by not buying it off of dealers.

All these saving of which I have spent money on in the past, now allows me to spend it on other things such as Lights and Vaporizers etc.

If you are someone that uses tobacco and wants to save money, give it up. If love tobacco and never want to give it up that cool, I wouldn't tell anyone to stop something they love.

Growing my own and stopping smoking saves me loads of cash and that money buys me cool things I wouldn't of had otherwise.

Just a point of view to consider , I judge no one.

A pretty cool pic from DPs crazy leds site...

Looks like some nice engineering :)

Damn!
Who are they defying and why?"Noo..you Joking..?"

Have the lights arrived today, bros?

Or not yet?

I have to wait until they clear out each and every detail about accesories, cables, diffusers, etc. to be able to calculate what I need.

Seems that there will be no DP brand, only CrazyLEDs. Is GN version also branded as CrazyLEDs?

I see people saying this 75w light compares to a 250w HPS. A 210w CDM would only cost a fraction of the GN's price and it would kill a 250w HPS. I used to grow with a 250w CMH (retro white, old tech) and I usually got atleast 200 grams from two plants in scrog in a small tent (60x60x140), so I'm definitely interested in seeing this GN unit yield the 200 grams that a 250w HPS produces. The GN unit has to be the best grow light around to justify it's price.

[edit] Oh yeah and DIY COB fixtures are definitely the best bang for the buck, at least for smaller grows. They probably wouldn't be the most cost efficient choice of lighting for a huge warehouse grow.

Psyphish,

I have been following along on all the chatter on GNs new lights. And I like you am very interested in actual results and yields of lights. Zoomy specs are one thing, but actual yields are king! Please clarify CDM and CMH for this LED newbie.

Their Grownortherns lights bro DP sell them from there new LED store which is called Crazy LEDs hence the sticker.

CDM = Ceramic Dischard Metal -Halide

CMH = Ceramic Metal Halide

Metal Halide lamps used to just put out blue-ish light and Hps an orangey light.

The two technologies have be put together to produce a hybrid light - the Ceramic Metal Halide , such as the Philips Retro White which produces a full spectrum light.

There have been other advances over recent years using the same sort of technology such as the sun pulse range of metal halide lights available in a range of different spectral colours.

Only recently have CMH light been available in the UK, whereas they have been being used for a couple of years in the USA.

Philips missed a trick here, if they had released in the UK a few years before they could have taken some of the burgeoning LED market.

I was following the progress of CMH for a number of years on ICMAG waiting and hoping they would come to the UK as they were more energy efficient and seemed to be producing nice crops.

At that time the only way to get CMH bulbs was to order from the USA, packing and postage further increasing the price, coupled with the fact I would be ordering a glass bulb from half way round the globe meant I didn't bother ordering. After all I didn't want to order something which may shatter before it even got here.

[h=1]Dimlux Expert Series CDM Light Systems[/h]

The sensationally bright glow of light emitted from a ceramic discharge lamp is just as impressive as the relatively small amount of power needed to drive it. Indeed, only the yield-boosting results that can and will be achieved with these products eclipses the energy and efficiency benefits on offer!
Dimlux has embraced this exciting new technology, creating an innovative range of systems that take all the positive attributes of the outstanding Expert Series and then supercharge them to step performance up to the next level!
Greater efficiency, you say? Yes! In terms of efficiency, Dimlux Expert Series Complete CDM Lights kick out more micromoles per watt (1.9 umol/Watt) than competing models. This essentially means that these units gives you and your plants a greater amount of light output from the amount of energy invested.
Like the other major lighting systems on the market, Dimlux Expert Series Complete CDM units consist of a reflector, a ballast and a lamp. However, closer inspection will reveal distinct differences – the most notable of which being that all three components have been integrated into one! Better still, the 630 Watt model somehow manages to incorporate two 315 Watt lamps for twice the power!
Positioning the ballast directly behind the reflector and housing both of them together cleverly does away with the need for a lengthy cable, helping to prevent electromagnetic interference for an uninterrupted supply of energy to the lamp. As a result you can suspend the entire unit directly above the canopy, dramatically increasing the intensity of light fed to plants and massively boosting growth rates.
Now even though the whole is greater than the sum of the parts, each individual element of Dimlux Expert Series Complete CDM Lights deserves a turn in the spotlight.
The silent running, super safe Dimlux Xtreme Ballast uses ultra efficient electronic components rather than the older electromagnetic technology, allowing for the provision of 7 separate lighting settings – including two overdrive options (for up to 15% extra lumens) – all changeable via a convenient dimmer switch. You can even go one step further and install a Dimlux Maxi Controller, which will manage up to 160 of the Dimlux units, automatically dimming the level of light when necessary based on your target day and night grow room temperatures. It really is effortless!
Not to be outdone by the ballast, the Alpha Optics 98 Reflector features blindingly shiny 98% reflective Miro Silver aluminium and a truly pioneering design that forces light waves to go around the lamp and down towards your plants after initial contact with the interior surface (the Single Bounce Clear Sight principle). When it comes to shaping the spread of light over the course of a crop there are easily adjustable sides and optional add-on reflectors, whilst the open nature of the reflector and ingenious 50mm air extraction port help to swiftly move heat away from the lamp area. You simply will not find a better equiped or more effective reflector!
Which just leaves the lamp left to tick off – only an industry-leading Philips Greenpower model! Due to the internal voltage converter of the ballast, both the 315 Watt and 630 Watt systems can be used with 400v lamps through a standard 230v mains connection, thus ensuring that you enjoy a high and stable light output!
