when I smoked joints I would buy a pack of 10 a day. Currently a 10 pack of B&H sells between approx £4- £5 {just checked prices at Tesco online} x 365 day = £1460 - £1825 approx.

This does not include buying King size Rizla at £1 a pack plus the need to buy lighters which constantly get nicked by other smokers, add to that buying flint and lighter gas if you can manage to hold on to your lighter.

Now I just vape and also use less weed because I am not constantly rolling joints, in part due to being addicted to tobacco.

So now I save almost a couple of grand a year by giving up tobacco alone and by growing my own weed {saving easily a few more grand}, saving even more money by not buying it off of dealers.

All these saving of which I have spent money on in the past, now allows me to spend it on other things such as Lights and Vaporizers etc.

If you are someone that uses tobacco and wants to save money, give it up. If love tobacco and never want to give it up that cool, I wouldn't tell anyone to stop something they love.

Growing my own and stopping smoking saves me loads of cash and that money buys me cool things I wouldn't of had otherwise.

Just a point of view to consider , I judge no one.

Seems that there will be no DP brand, only CrazyLEDs. Is GN version also branded as CrazyLEDs?

I see people saying this 75w light compares to a 250w HPS. A 210w CDM would only cost a fraction of the GN's price and it would kill a 250w HPS. I used to grow with a 250w CMH (retro white, old tech) and I usually got atleast 200 grams from two plants in scrog in a small tent (60x60x140), so I'm definitely interested in seeing this GN unit yield the 200 grams that a 250w HPS produces. The GN unit has to be the best grow light around to justify it's price.

[edit] Oh yeah and DIY COB fixtures are definitely the best bang for the buck, at least for smaller grows. They probably wouldn't be the most cost efficient choice of lighting for a huge warehouse grow.

Their Grownortherns lights bro DP sell them from there new LED store which is called Crazy LEDs hence the sticker.

CDM = Ceramic Dischard Metal -Halide

CMH = Ceramic Metal Halide


Metal Halide lamps used to just put out blue-ish light and Hps an orangey light.

The two technologies have be put together to produce a hybrid light - the Ceramic Metal Halide , such as the Philips Retro White which produces a full spectrum light.

There have been other advances over recent years using the same sort of technology such as the sun pulse range of metal halide lights available in a range of different spectral colours.

Only recently have CMH light been available in the UK, whereas they have been being used for a couple of years in the USA.

Philips missed a trick here, if they had released in the UK a few years before they could have taken some of the burgeoning LED market.

I was following the progress of CMH for a number of years on ICMAG waiting and hoping they would come to the UK as they were more energy efficient and seemed to be producing nice crops.

At that time the only way to get CMH bulbs was to order from the USA, packing and postage further increasing the price, coupled with the fact I would be ordering a glass bulb from half way round the globe meant I didn't bother ordering. After all I didn't want to order something which may shatter before it even got here.
