Mephisto Genetics New packaging designs!

With digital printing it depends on quantity that you order, its more suited for smaller quantities like a 1000 or something. Where as litho printing your paying for the plates to made etc for each colour and design, with digital there's no need for plates its just like a glorified desktop printer. It would be worth looking into because seed packs are only small so you would be able to plan several designs to a sheet.

That's the thing, we need in the region of 30'000 printing so I think digital wouldn't be at all economical.
For every show we plan to attend, we'd like to give away 1000 packs, and doing things like that, the stock soon disappears :)

Mitch, the two items I see that could potentially cause mandatory revisions...

Whomever you get to print them will have what's called a "Live Area" which is
smaller than the "Trim line" (which is where they actually cut) and then, obviously
the "bleed" outside the Trim line. Your live area is the area beyond which you can't
have any copy. They do this to protect from cutting info off when things "shift" in
the press or cutter. Your design looks like it may be pushing the limits of said
"Live Area" (although that measurement is based on the quality of the printer)

The QR code may be too small to scan at that size, IIRC they require at least
a .25" square for most software to be able to scan it...it may be .5"

I have all those graphic elements and that font (minus the bean/bullet) so once
you find a printer, if you need help adhering to the Mechanical Requirements set
forth by them, just let me know and I can help with the final layouts.

Maybe remove any actual reference to them being cannabis seeds for the majority of the world where they are still illegal ?

AFAIK, The copy (including specifically what type of seeds they are) is required in order to comply with the
caveat/loophole that allows for their sale at all, as "souvenirs not intended for germination" (UK/Spain/etc.)

Mitch's packaging is required to adhere to the legal statutes of the country of origin and the country of
the seed banks that sell them, but to no others.

The weed leaves have now been removed from the logo in favour of the seed images,
I think the only place is says cannabis is now the disclaimer in small writing. Perhaps this could be changed to hemp I'll have to look into it

Hi trap, thanks for your input mate, but I think I have all your points covered.
The qr code is the same size as on the last business cards we had made, and although compact it was absolutely functional and scannable with my old iPhone 5.

The way the packages are constructed there's actually a natural border formed by where the bags are sealed during manufacture on the bottom and left and right sides which has a texture that doesn't lend itself to being printed upon.
So the design has to be kept inside those margins.
This is just the raw design so when I talk with the printer I'll find out those margins and adjust the graphics to suit.

If you noticed I took a hint from you and brought the 'Mephisto' text outside of the mountain now, and it's bigger than the genetics text :)

Cheers anyway as always, when does the little trap arrive?
