New Grower Northen Lights Auto, UK Outdoor Grow, 1st Ever Grow Attempt

my tap water when bubbled is around 7.8/8.1 when i add root stim and seaweed extract it drops to around 7.5 that's the lowest my plants get till they need feeding (1ml fish mix 3ml biobloom ) 6.8/7.0
i only feed light as every 4th feed is compost & ewc tea
just remember KISS (Keep It Simple Stoner)

Let that bubbled water settle before testing it....out of the tank, my bubbled water was around 8 but within 3 or 4 minutes of letting sit and stirring a Ph pen in it, it came down to 6.8-6.9.

just my 2 cents

Hi all

4)If at all possible take the pots indoors at night for the first 15 days or so before the smell starts, low temps (below 20C) will stunt the root growth and the plant will stay very small.
4- I have started to bring the selling into the main house over night and will do so for the next few weeks. I think I will struggle to keep them above 20c. Even in summer nights are not that warm. So I have invested in a cheep PVC green house. I know this brings smell issues with it. The plan re this is to get up early and gently let it air out, maby use a block to mask the smell. The grow is not that close to any houses, but better to be safe than sorry
shop even thought it is miles from my house. I do not appear with a car and reg plate and I go early in the morning as a first customer. Keeping my eye out on cars and who is in them etc. near grow shops. I walk past first and check the place out. Call me para. I visit grow shops as little as poss and that's why I use tomato organic feed in veg as that is not suspicious to purchase.

NLA is one of the more hardy strains so don't panic of temp goes lower than 20C. Low temps will slow growth, only very low temps will kill the plant. A PVC greenhouse should keep them warm enough at night. On hot sunny days though they can get *very* hot inside, so if you're blessed with good daytime weather, roll the door up or take the plants out. Watch out for stormy winds though - the PVC greenhouses can get torn to shreds or end up in next door's garden

Hi all

7) You probably will not have to use any feed for 20 days ! Then try and use organic fertilizers, not chemical fertilizers. Organic fertilizers leave more leeway for mistakes. Auto flowering strains tend to need very little fertilizer. The first feed at around 21-25 days should be rich in nitrogen so I suggest an organic tomato feed available online for less than £10.00 typically. Then either get a bottle of Biobizz Bloom or Plant Magic Bloom Old Timer, both organic canna specific bloom nutes. Always consider your safety buying online, who are you giving your money to and will they then know what you are growing. I prefer to do a walking vist to a grow shop even thought it is miles from my house. I do not appear with a car and reg plate and I go early in the morning as a first customer. Keeping my eye out on cars and who is in them etc. near grow shops. I walk past first and check the place out. Call me para. 7- This is still giving me trouble. I get that I have 20 days before I need to feed (probably) do I then need to give them something for the veg stage ? Is it vegging that the tomato feed is for? or is that bloom. I am also really para about going to a grow shop and I had not even thought about tractability on line. If any one can spell this out to me I would be grateful. I am really really confused on this one.

OK, here's how I'd spell it out:
Get some biobizz grow for the veg stage (start at 25 days, continue every third water until flowering):
http://www.oasishydro.co.uk/biobizz-bio-grow
and some biobizz bloom for the flowering stage (start at flowering continue until 2 weeks before harvesting):
http://www.oasishydro.co.uk/biobizz-bio-bloom

Keep solutions weak, so as not to scorch plants. That's probably all you need. No more risky than ordering seeds online (and certainly not illegal on its own).

trapper that is after 15+ mins the water round here is hard 275/300 ppms
the only reason im measuring the ph now is after this grow im going coco coir
Early Girl just treat them like ordinary potted plants

Roger that

Also, didn't realize it was Early Girl's thread...sorry for the hijack EG/UK...:)

dazed is that rain or tap water and how much feed are you using
i think its baking soda that's a ph up in water

-

I used rain water for a while but it was super super low ph, like under 5.5 and screwed everything up. Now I use tap water, left to stand for 48hrs and the ph is around 7.4 before feed. After nutes, it comes down to 6.2/6.3. I follow my EC meter depending on stage of the plant.I use lime to buffer it up a little and seems to be working well, my plants are coming back to life anyway so something is working.

One thing I did notice was that water left for 3-4 days the ph kept going up.

Early Girl im sorry too it was me started to hijack first sorry
just 1 little tip if your leaving the pots out at night get some slug tape around the pots

Just be aware of condensation build up when the greenhouse is zipped down. Not good for flowering plants. I am working on a modification right now for mine as after leaving it set up in the garden for a few days I was not happy with the air movement or lack of it. My cheapo greenhouse only had 3 tiny vent holes at the top no bigger then a 50p coin.

Hi all thanks for the info

I only have a min now but will up date soon. Just for now I have a burning PH question

I have just prepped the big pots to transplant the seedlings in. I now know this is error 1 but it was done before I knew that, so I have given them a week to get established.

I have just got a simple mix, wastelands with IIS 20% pelite and 10% vermiculite. It has been VERY rainy her over night so that was good enough for a soil pre soaking, thinking that they are going to be out in it soon enough.

I have just tested the soil. It came out Neutral to Alkaline so about 7.3 going on the shade. What should I do to the soil to bring it down a bit before transplanting, should I do anything ???? It has been dry with time to soke in before I tested it.

On a sepret but related point. I have been looking into soil PH testers in the UK and they are very very expensive, like £50 min, I simply cannot afford this atm. Do you think it is posable to grow without one ?
