Hello all

Joined today, had a few hours looking around... I'm very impressed, well done to all.

I've been a bit of an "activist" in the past... mainly as a reaction to the law in UK, I have a medical need for cannabis as I have been paraplegic since 1992 and cannabis suppresses my severe spasticity, so have taken the system on a few times and beaten them soundly, so soundly that I have my county chief constable's permission to grow my own... also done the odd talk and been on TV...

Most interested in LED growing, and being an electronics engineer I am thinking of experimenting with them, I have ideas about modulating the led's output... and I have also dabbled in timelapse, mainly with flowers but I do have an interesting cannabis one... it is in mp4 format, so would like to put it on here if it is possible... (but I suspect you will want it linked on youtube or something similar)

I've had a year off the growing, up till now I've done normal photoperiod, but after my year's break I'm starting up again and have discovered these auto's, which makes things easier for me in my little one bed bungalow.

Lots more reading to do, thanks all for a very informative forum.

Welcome to AFN, Rex. I guarantee, you're gonna love this place, and the members who hang out here! Knowledge is readily shared, and support is always around. Hell, this place turns guys like me, with absolutely no grow skills, into competent, successful growers! Glad to have you, Sir! Any idea which auto strain you'll grow first?

LED's are awesome, so are autos. Both Dutch Passion and Mephisto Genetics have great autos, depending what your situation is. Id go with DP if you want low plant count and larger plants, if you want top quality or smaller stature plants, definitely consider Mephisto.

Thanks for the welcome...

TGB, at the moment I have 5 Vision Seeds’ Amnesia Haze Autoflower on the go, but I have no idea how good they are... they popped on Dec 26, so now nearly 4 weeks growing, and already showing pistils at the leaf bases. They are a bit stretchy, but that could be my grow methods, though ph seems okay...

thanks for the advice treeman, having had a good look around the LED section, I am most impressed with the Dutch Passion stuff I've seen, so my next grow will be Durban Poison... something I haven't had since the mid '80's.
For now I'm using my old 400W MH-HPS setup, but will be investing soon in LED... just not sure which one yet, though reading here has already given me some good tips.

Welcome Brother, Many of us are disabled here and the site has great info for medical. I too am a activist and learning about led's, and have not selected which one yet. See you already have many things in common with us. Enjoy this great site. Also I grew 1 Vision Super Skunk outdoors and it was about a meter tall and super tasty. Peace...

Mars-Hydro has awesome LED panels at crazy affordable prices, in case you haven't already looked into them

Thanks Rick, as far as the medical side goes, I know all I need to know really, been making my own oil for a few years, and they go belting with chocolate... I've had to educate my doctor on my needs, which led on to my activism and the education of my local police and all the bloody local MP's over the last 20 years...
Chances are, I'll be adding my own expertise here on the medical side.
But growing... even after around 16 years of growing, I'm still not satisfied with my results, some were fantastic but many were just average or even poor, and I still have much to learn, and that is what I'm here for... many of the monsters I have grown have suffered from budrot... bloody budrot ... perhaps I can learn from here how to avoid it, that alone would be worth it.

Thanks TGB, I think I already have that one bookmarked after reading here... one of about 20 I think...

Welcome Hugo,

great intro. I am sure Auto's will be all you hoped they would. I cannot offer advice on strains as they are different to each persons needs. However, I must say from a personal pov I was not that impressed with the Durban Poison I grew outdoors last year. Hey, it was not bad at all, but there are better. It was a photo. I will say this, it grew superbly.

I do hope you stay around for the long term, we can share a lot from each other. Good growing my friend,

eP.
