Opinions on Cannabis Cups

The Autoflower Cup just offered us a judging position.

We may go go in disguise and see what kind of snacks they provide.

And guys don't worry. I watched a lot of ALF growing up. I *KNOW* disguises.

I loved how Dude Grows Cup did their event, they gave everyone wooden nickels and a glass chillum, then you'd go to the "bud tables," that had jars with slots in the top. A budtender would pack your chillum for you, and you'd get to walk around smoking whatever it was they packed. If you liked what you smoked, you dropped a nickel in their jar.

Easy, peasy.

Can I be Devil's Advocate...and ask...what on earth would make a cannabis company Set up..organise..and Sponsor a Cannabis Cup competition if their own crosses weren't included....?......what would they have to gain..

It's a bit like getting Coca-Cola to set up a soft drinks competition that they can't enter and Pepsi will win.... ..just doesn't make sense.
perhaps I misunderstood, I thought the concern was the company actually entering the contest as a grower themselves. As long as the growers are independent, and the judging is blind and transparent, I don't mind who sponsors the event. The key is blind judging, which as a rule is not done, so I have next to zero interest.

As far as I am concerned, if the judges of the final product know what the strain and breeder is, clean results are not possible. If judging includes plant shape etc., identification of entries in any way would have to await judging results. IMO.
