New Grower Outdoor growing strain advice - 12/12 light cycle all year

I know Northern lights does great at 12/12 but not very mold resistant and i know along the lines of cheese are do very well in humidity. Sorry I do not know much about the strains I havent had any real interest in, Im classic strains kinda guy lol

I'll second the bbxgg3 for mold resistance. It just laughs at conditions that would have completely ruined other plants. Never seen anything like it. At your latitude (equatorial I assume) it would act much like an auto and flower right away, but hey, the smaller the plant the harder it is for someone else to find.

If I had an outdoor light schedule like yours there is absolutely no question about what I'd try and grow, tropical sativas :smokeit:

Also, if you can start/veg inside, they'll BLOW UP as soon as you put them outdoors in 12/12!

Besides the tropical mold problem that you will have to manage, do you want to grow a long or short period?
Auto's will not be dependant on the sun hours for flowering, so that might be good for your needs.
I am sure sativa is originally from the equator locations but will probably take up to 9 months to finish.

So auto would be quicker but most likely less yield than a sativa photo. If you can hide the crop well, I would go for the sativa and maybe an auto or a very photo sensitive as a fill in until the sativa harvest.
Weather is certainly your friend here(except the mold problem).

Disclaimer: What would I know? Wait for others to comment before making an informed decision.

Good luck.

Thanks for all of your replies...This is the kind of info I need!

I'm sure that I could find a spot in the jungle with enough overhead clearance to put down a few plants that will get direct sunlight. My real concern is wild pigs and imported Philippine deer coming along to eat them. I could probably put up some kind of fencing/barrier, but that would really stick out to someone that happened to pass within sight-range. Any suggestions? I should probably just climb up the side of a steep hill that those animals would most likely avoid.

Honestly, I should probably just start an indoor grow to make it simple and reduce the risk of someone finding them and taking them home. But, the idea of some super-huge plants outdoors is pretty alluring...Dingo, your mention of a 9-month plant makes me envision a small tree with a yield of a pound+. Yikes.

Thanks again!

I would disagree with 9 months....2 months veg indoors, transplant into 12/12 and even some of the longest hazes will be done in 12 weeks of flowering. That's a total of 5 months.

Here are my recommendations for tropical outdoor plants...by no means "all inclusive" but some classic hazes here from world-class breeders (Shanti and Mandala):

Also, pretty much anything from Cres (HighRise) is going to be awesome outside, but that was already mentioned above...

pee all over every where around it ... usually keeps wild animals away...

You can put up a fence without problems! Just use 30lb clear fishing line and when animal run into it it scares them S*&^ less because they cannot see it, I seen it in person a couple of times. AND DO NOT use soap (bar form) for human scent to scare away animal, you will have a hell of a lot of rats eating soap lol moth balls work better

I like the fishing line and moth balls idea, moons...Thanks! And GoAuto6, pee is free...Great idea! Low and Slow, thanks for the strain recommendations, I can use all of the help/guidance I can get.
