Indoor Pests in FF CocoLoco?

Hi everyone. I am considering buying a bag of Fox Farms Coco-Loco. In the past I have used compressed coco blocks but want to give loose coco a try. The last time I used Ocean forest I ended up with gnats and don’t want to risk that again. Is the Loco clean? Or will I be risking another bug problem with this product?

I have been using Coco Coco for a while and I've yet to get a bad bag. When I first began using it, I was buying from a local hydro store that had Coco Loco outside on pallets. No problems with those bags. I've used several online stores to procure Coco Loco, and thankfully, all were fine. Perhaps I am lucky.

Thanks for the reply. I was just reading on the site and they say using coco loco Will require less water than soil. Is that true? I am used watering my coco daily

I got the little white bugs one time. Not sure what they were . Dude at Hydro store said it’s normal for that to happen? I found mixed answers to what they could have been so I don’t know 100%

I'm paranoid and a zip of prevention could mean a pound of good bud.

I mix in DE powder in my coco before potting. Also precharge the coco with calmag and light nutes. And put mycos fungi in the transplant hole. So might as well just put in all the good stuff from the start. I'd rather not have to fight bugs, I'd rather just prevent them period.

Since I switched over to bricks I haven’t had an issue with bugs. Knock on wood. I was curious about loose coco but don’t want to risk it if people have gotten bugs with loose bags

Generally I water a quart to a quart and a half every other day. I first water to some run off to check on how ph is doing, then the quart to a quart and a half every other day for the rest of the grow. I might water to some run off a second time to check on ph again if things are looking a little poorly. That first watering with some run off takes approx 4-6 days to dry in my environment. I also mix Coco Loco and Perlite with Canna bagged pure coco semi regularly. I am switching out Perlite in favor of rice hulls next run.
