yeah man, im not saying the MARS range aint got there problems either, like, too heavy, noisy fans, thick glass panel that just reflects heat back in, average heat thermal transfer paste, average fans....and worst of all, if a zener diode pops, (they are the little tiny chips next to the led itself on the board, main job of these critters is to keep the led circuit complete if a led blows) well, if one of them blows aswell, like what happened to my mates one, cos he sulphur bombed his tent and left the led in there like a true donut.. you will loose a whole section of leds on the board. blew the led and the zener you see? broke the circuit.
was a easy fix tho, replace led and put a wire of solder in the space where the zener went. not pretty but closes the circuit again and hey presto, you got your whole section back,. I repaired that one over 6 months ago and its still running strong.
Now the Chinese supplier knew this fix, now here is my main point....
what they find so hard is communicating it across to us lot.
Many have said to me and friends that this is the main problem, language problems.
and whats even sadder is that other overseas suppliers take full advantage of this 'language difference' which pisses me off
well, that's where I come in.
Call me a universal LED translator. lol. I cant speak Chinese but I get by and can get my point across just fine to get the problem sorted.
So, wot led aint got its ups and downs?
Take the 3g or platinum leds for example,. all those little lenses behind the glass are not fixed down. they are pressed into place by the face glass panel, but when that gets loose or you drop it,. etc.. watch all those lenses fall off. lol.
same with the Apollo's and their copies, something that GN would also know about all so well. loose lenses = complete pain in the arse to refit. get the angle wrong, puts too much pressure on the led diode underneath, doesn't give good contact onto the heatsink bar behind resulting in a popped led. and those models havnt even got a zener diode next to the leds, if they blow the whole module blows.,,,but hey. they are my favourite for changing spectrums on, so easy to solder the leds in and out.
and the power drivers they use are still better than those stupid little black box ones you get nowadays inside most leds, ie the mars, 3g, vipar panels. etc.. etc..
So, as you can see, yeah, all leds have their faults but also have their own special unique good sides too.
Hit or miss bro. lol.
