Started working as it should, then daily it got louder and louder, firstly could notice the ticking noise over my extraction, circulation and led fans, then could notice the noise in the next room.
Tried plugging into the wall, then plugging into an extension lead and laying on its side, back, front, head but made no difference to the noise

Finally found a way to silence it...

...Maybe I was unlucky with this timer? and possibly could have returned it for replacement but in my stealth situation it was too risky to risk having a timer start making noise again

I've opted for a digital timer with separate contactor

I've had that with timers before villain... they make that constant slow crunching mechanical sound as the wheel turns.

Really used to creep me out when i had the cab in the bedroom and was trying to sleep - like a horror movie sound!.
They used to get wicked hot too!

I quickly swapped for one of these (maxibright realy)

not sure if it's much quieter as its not in the bedroom anymore but sure do feel a bit safer! :)

sledge hammers fix an amazing amount of difficulties.
I have always believed in the old saying, "get a bigger hammer"

Thats the noise, if my cab was in the bedroom not sure if I would still be on AFN! the cabinet is in my garage and I'm up at 4.30 most mornings and could hear it in my living room

Can't see the pic for some reason? and thought it's the same make as my contactor but mines Maxiswitch

Timers have been a PITA for me, my Argos one let me down, didn't switch the light off, and the only reason I found out was when the clocks changed to BST

I've been using these for 6 months or so now with no issues I've even been recommending them on here.

Like I said TaNg, maybe I was unlucky.
I'm covered now for the next upgrade

Lol, mines similar size, but with 2 plugs (one in mains and one in timer) and obviously seperate timer

I think you need decent switching gear with LED

I've had this beauty since i was running 500w of cfls in my first tiny cab lol (i really got the bug) -It wasnt until the timer started to melt and burnt my hand a little that i realised i was on the verge of a terrible mistake.

Safety first :)

I love cracking walnuts with sledge hammers! and enjoyed that silencing moment very much!

Funny thing, I smashed that timer up before my new timer/contactor arrived, thats how much it was pi$$ing me off, luckily the delivery company adhered to the text message they sent me....

Im DIY to a fault at times.
I made my own.
kitchen timer runs an ice cube relay good for 10a at 600vac
kinda goofy looking but i dont have to worry about melting anymore timers.
and of course burning down my house!
