Poppin Poppies

Wow KB! I have only been successful with some dwarf California Poppies to date. I started buying them too late in the year, last year, to put any in, besides a trial dwarf run. I am trying to germinate a few different strains inside now. I have also spread many outside but don't have much hope for them.
How do you get them going initially? I'd love to have a crop of different poppies. Please KB share your methods! I have only collected eBay seeds. Please, PM me and tell me how you got ahold of some pharmaceutical grade seeds!

i made an order for some seeds a week or so ago.but i get the feeling it may be to late to sow this season.been watching a few utube vids, and goggling lots.but im still a kinda lost.any pointers/tutorials etc ?

Hey Arch- I think it depends on where you are in the world on if its too late to sow poppy. Myself, I am throwing them everywhere till June. I am bound and determined to raise me some poppies! Beyond anything KB might reveal, google is your best bet. I've searched and read high and low. As with anything, the more you read, the more certain things stand out. Research, research, research. Anything in particular and I'll try my best. Understand I am as yet unsuccessful in growing poppies. I am only well read on the subject. Much luck and karma Archie.

Spring has almost sprung in my part of the world. So I personally just finished as of today putting all of my seed in the ground. Key thing if it is not raining is to keep your seeds moist! Until they sprout 7-10 days is average. Once established they really don't require much moisture at all. Less is better in fact. A great wealth of info can be found at The Somniforum. Just be sure to look for the old school forums from way back. Will try & find the link for you guys. Also if you want search Burrabits hydro grow on Google. It will Blow you away!!

ta,thats my homework for this week.

Any update on these EoF? Hopefully they are still doing well.

Funny you are all talking about poppies... I decided last year that I was going to cultivate some in my flower gardens. I chose one variety which looked real pretty 'Danish Flag' which I purchased from someone abroad. I guess I got something extra according to what I just read.

ePenguin posted a link and they have a real good mix, including Hens and Chickens which have potent 'easter eggs' supposedly... Still time to get more... Some can be grown indoors very successfully like H&C's...\
