Beggy, I would suggest you contact your water company and get a copy of their analysis of the water. If they are using chloramine, and not chlorine to treat your water, then even bubbling won't be an effect method to off gas it. You may also want to look into adding an RO filter to your system. They can be expensive but check eBay. I got one for just over $100 which is working very well. Relatively easy to install and will reduce your starting PPM to single digits in most cases. My tap water is usually right around 250 ppm and pH of close to 8. After filtering the PPM is usually below 5 and the pH around 6.8. I add enough cal/mag supplement to bring the PPM up to between 100 - 125, add my nutes, let stand for a bit, then pH. If you go that route you'll also need a storage tank big enough to hold a full res change. I'm using a plastic 55 gallon drum. I installed the float valve that came with the RO filter so it automatically shuts off when the storage tank is full.
