What do you mean "guess work"? Don't go chasing ph just keep your inputs in range and it will follow
 
Hi, the ph of the mains water is a little too acidic (I tested with my pool tester kit), so I reduced it a little.
A friend just uses mains water and has no problem.

I roughly ph my tap water that is ~8+, to the mid 6s, with drops/by color...getting close to a decent range is helpful and growing in soil usually forgiving on that front fortunately :cheers:
