Hello, I'm brand new to growing. Please don't lynch me for my ignorance on this subject. :) I'm learning reach day though.

Found some seeds in ghost haze train, thought I give this a try.
Growing in a 2*2 tent, with 600w equivalent LED.

Used standard potting soil and perlite (~30% perlite) we had laying around. Want to make the most of this without going overboard.

Had my seedling in a tiny starter cup and now put it in 3 gal pot. poked his head out around Dec 4. Doing 20/4 light schedule. Started watering with aquarium water.

Yesterday I noticed the first set of leaves started to have brown tips. Any suggestions what the cause might be?

Thank you.

Congrats on diving into your first grow!
What brand is the "standard" potting soil. Some soils run hot...some are just plain junk.
Also, what's the PH of your aquarium water?.
I know you are trying this as simple as possible...but there are factors that need to stable and consistent.

The soils came from home Depot . I think both are miracle grow .

Do these numbers help? :
Seedling was in: 0.07-0.04-0.03.
Now sits in: 0.21-0.11-0.16

Aquarium an approx pH of 7.2
Thank you.

Miracle grow isn’t ideal for weed. Weed requires the right nutrients in the right amounts at the right time. The soil can be too ‘hot’ for seedlings and has too much nitrogen for the flowering stage. Best use

Miracle grow soils wouldn't be my first choice...but that's what you have to work with. Those soils as you see are precharged..and not all lots are consistent.

As for PH... 6.2-6.5 is what most, if not all soil growers try to hit. Aquarium water does have lots of beneficial nutes..but your adding to the soil. I've seen people use aquarium water with success..but they are running organic soil or cocoa.

All that's been said above is true , but you have what you have ,,, I think it looks not too bad all things considered , looks like it could do with a feed though, so more aquarium water or any old bottles of feed sat in the shed ? , baby milk powder?, bit of watered down urine perhaps,

I use biobizz fishmix if you want to spend some pennies on it :smoking: and biobizz light is a great soil for in the future ,, keep at it :d5: you will learn lots from keeping that going :d5:

Thank you. I have a second seedling that popped a week later on Dec 11. I will try to get some better soils. One shop near me seems to sell foxfarm products, not sure if I can find biobizz locally but will shoot for that first.

I really appreciate the feedback.

Picked up a bag of foxfarm ocean forest while out and about. Don't think anyone carries biobizz. Definitely prefer supporting the local grow shop over big box stores.

I will put my second seedling in that soon. Should I repot my seedling [HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG] too? I think I probably will in a day or two..
