it’s all about the wicking so the bottom would have to be flat so it can be flush with the mat and also have a LOT of holes on the bottom

just had a thought, if you use plastic with holes on the bottom you’re gonna have so much root build up sticking out that it can very well throw your pot off balance. I’d highly recommend fabric
