Self watering Tray2Grow experiment đź‘€

Looking great. Got my system delivered dying to give it a go. Would you think plastic pots would work well in it?
just had a thought, if you use plastic with holes on the bottom you’re gonna have so much root build up sticking out that it can very well throw your pot off balance. I’d highly recommend fabric

Autopots plastic pots bases have loads of long slits in them. Totally different to a regular pots. Ah I was just thinking of vegging in plastic and flowering in fabric but I managed to find half gallon fabric pots and I'm gonna cut them and attach Velcro for transplanting purposes. Plus the fabric with allow me to veg a little bit longer if needed. Fabric all the way.
Thanks man

I’ve never transplanted so I have no knowledge of its advantages but these trays make a direct sow super easy. I hand watered these girls for the first 6 days I water an area approx the size of a solo cup around the sprout but when they’re headed to the tray I soak the whole pot first and let the runoff finish. I’ve seen guys who transplant just drop the bean in a solo and set the cup on the tray to germinate and live there til they transplant. But yes I would really recommend fabric for the whole grow and also make sure you feed full strength daily starting on day 1.

I have seen some small fabric pots with velcro on them. They're made for transplanting.
Here's a quick search.....these are pretty similar to the ones that I saw before

$1.70 for a half gallon pot

This could happen with plastic pots. The wide open holes let a ton of roots out and the plastic forces them out the bottom only so they will clump and eventually tilt your pot over. Roots coming out are fine but the fabric allows them to come out the sides.

By the way that’s a one gallon container that started in a solo cup and the plant yielded 6 ounces
