cheers, i dont think we have seen the best of this grow yet lol

i use straight uk tap water with a shit background ec of .4 , i dont need any chiller to keep my water cold as my temps aint that hot due to the fact i use l.e.d lights, ambient temp never goes over 79 degrees and thats with both panels running

my res temps are 19-21 degrees which is great i know some people are really fussy and like to keep the temps @ 16 degrees but its all about the dissolved oxygen in the res and i have plenty of that ;)

hope this helps

Nice. Reason that I ask is I am experiencing higher temps with my res water. I am running LED's too along with a 50 gallon reservoir and my res temps are consistently at 79-80 (26c), ugh! Even after getting a pump timer for 1 min on, 3 min off, It still won't dip below 77 degrees, which is really hurting my growth imo.

if your res temps are 79-80 id hate to think what your room temps are, normally there is a 5 degree difference in res temps to ambient temps, when the plants get big enough they shade the light off the buckets which help keeps my temps down, i also start a fresh res with lower temp water to compenste any rise

im sure growing in them temps isnt good for your plants and the root system as a whole and hope you get it sorted 1 way or another

cheers

Hello mate, sorry to hijack the thread.

You should change your present avatar with this image Seymour Buds and let everybody know that you are the

Peace THW

nice work seymour,
really enjoying the show mate, its amazing how fast they grow in the oxy. i cant seem to leave mine for more than 12 hours before the light needs moving. the td is looking like a good specimen gonna be nice to see the finished product, looking like youve got lots of big colas building up:jump:

im now thinking of LStraining my maxi gom as my growspace is not so permitting and only using cfl, i will have to change the oxy into a rdwc system as the plant wont go anywhere once i start tieing it up. have you ever considered this for better yeild, bud distribution and more stable resivoir solution? will it really make any difference?
i know what your doing is tip top stuff mate and i am by nomeans critisising:toke: and to be honest dont know if its possible to make your grow any better lol..

keep up the good work bro.....

peace:peace:

i know what your saying, my plan was to do dwc with lst before i took on this grow and in the future i wanna run autos under a scrog just for shits and giggles, ive already got my lst screens made up ready and waiting so who knows what may happen on my future grows

Also loving the show seymour

you should work like promo for IWS or IKON as i have just bought a DWC oxytpot to tinker with after seeing your grows! lol  but loft growing limits me with regards changing large amounts of soultion.
By the way how many times in a grow do you think you totally swap out the bucket and what do you do with the plant when your doing it?

Only been growing a few months and into my second grow but love it more and more, not only for the end result but for the journey to it and just for the sheer beauty of the cannabis plant .

Its also great that duch passion guys like Tony come on and talk with us the buyer and grower and expo new strains like this, i for one will give "Think different" a go when it comes out.

Also liked what Tony said about THC content, i Find an autofem more than strong enough for my needs but hey im not a hardcore 24/7 smoker and find super strong weed just leaves me unable to speak LOL! But the market will always drive things forward.. faster stronger better.. and thats the way it should be.

So big thanks to Dutch passion,Tony and you for letting us share this one dude and i hope the rest of your grow goes well.

cheers for the comments,

a lot depends on the size of the plants which determines how i do a res change, its quite easy to lift the plant from 1 bucket into another but as the plant/plants get bigger you have to drain the res and refill with fresh soloution, if you notice on the dwc bucket it has a tube which you use for emptying and then you just top it back up with a fresh batch of nutrients

im religoius and like to change my res every 7 days but thats just my personal choice i know some people like to leave it for longer periods, there are 3 main res changes that should always be done throughout the grow

the first full res change should be when you switch to flowering nutrients

the second res change should be when you add pk booster

the third res change should be after you have used the pk boost

anything inbetween these res changes is entirely down to the individual, i know some growers who will argue that if your topping off your res you dont need to change the soloution so much but my theory is you cant be 100% sure what nutrients the plants are using so you could end up with an imbalance in the res, if you always start off with 100% of a fresh mix and replace with 100% fresh mix weekly you will be eliminate any imbalances

lol sorry for the indepth explanation but i have a passion for hydro and i could go even deeper into the whole subject, you also get growers who like to run beneficial bacteria in the res and you also get growers who like to run a sterile root enviroment, i always opt for a sterile enviroment

Yes i seen that there is a tube running up the side, i thought that was for seeing the level but i see that you can just swing it down and empty it out. so how low below the basket is the nutes on these things?

The fomulex start seems spot on, is it me or are autos more nute sensitive than photos? The one thing i learned for sure in my three months growing auto's is there's no room to nute burn them early on!

Cant wait to get the pot and try it out.. hummm just need to work out how to run a stealth hose into my loft ! LOL

its really hard to burn seedlings in hydro using formulex because its a really weak nutrient make up with lower concentraions of n-p-k you can easily start at 1.0 ec and push them up to 1.2 ec for the 1st 2 weeks before switching over to full gorw nutrients

keeping the water level below the net pot again is all about prefence, some people will keep it level with the basket untill the first tap-root appears then lower it a couple of cm for the roots to breath

my method is different and ill keep my water level about 3cm above the net basket cause im blowing so much oxygen into my res the roots have enough to breath, also the advantage of this is that only feeding roots end up in the res

again you get different types of roots on the plants lol i know they all look the same but they serve different purposes, some roots are feeder roots and others are breathing roots, i like to keep the breathing roots inside the basket

i can waffle shit for hours honest

i just got the IKON pot its says it has a pump inside that pushes 180 liter and hour is that ok?

i just got the IKON pot its says it has a pump inside that pushes 180 liter and hour is that ok?

the dwc kits are bare cheap to buy at only £25 for a full setup , do a few grows with that 1st and see how you get on, you might find it really easy or you might find it hassle, theres no point spending loads of dough on a setup to find out its not your thing

its best to learn to walk before you can run, the most expensive part of growing in hydro is the ph pen and the ec meter both invaluable tools when you know how to use them properly
