Grow Mediums Smegheads 2nd Attempt at a 1st DWC Grow | Super Skunk #1 | 60 Day Wonder

Hey man, you're off to a great start :Sharing One:

Firstly, that leaf curl you are seeing is 100% normal, it's quite common for the first few set of leave to curl or twist or even be deformed, it will have no effect on your plants overall vitality and health :)

Also, it is okay to keep the initial res running a bit longer but to be safe I still like to change the res once a week to avoid any chance of bacteria/slime build up. Using a chiller is great if you can, 24 degrees is starting to reach the dangerous side of the scale as far as root rot is concerned so just keep a close eye on the skunk. The difference in size will all be down to genetics/phenotypes rather than anything you are doing to them as well :peace:

Great advice Pal. I have another chiller on hand , just waiting for the pump to get in. Fall/winter is setting in here so res temps have been lower.

Ok, bit of a DIY question here I'm goinh to modify my buckets to put water level tubes in and the drill bit I have for the grommet is 20mm and the shank is 13mm. I have a 10mm cordless Ryobi drill so is there a way to upgrade the chuck to a 13mm one or the other least expensive option is getting a new drill. Cheapest one I can find is an impact cordless drill, will that be overkill for my buckets?

Day 24

Did a rez change yesterday and upped the ec to 1.2 with 6l of water:

12ml cal mag
12 ml sensigrow A
12 ml sensigrow B
12 ml B52
12 ml voodoo juice

I'm at almost full strength nutes to get to 1.2 ec.

Babies are getting big and showing pubes. I've done some light LST to move the future bud sites out from under the fan leaves.

Found some deficiencies on one leaf set of the skunk that I'm assuming is calmag def. So I doubled up on calmag on this last rez change.

Here's a shot of both, gettin big!

Thanks for checking in KylieKay.

Day 27

Last night I topped up with 1.25L of tap water and 6ml of sensigrow a and 6ml of grow b to get back up to ec 1.2 for the 60dw. I got the rez chiller in time because I could see roots getting brownish and a bit soft.

Is there a way to fix any damage the high water temp may have caused?

Day 29

I've been having to top off with 1.25L of water per day, alternating tap water and nute solution to get up to EC 1.3 now. I messed up with the Super Skunk and the PH is too low at 5.4. Not sure what to do or just leave it until the next rez change this weekend.

Any ideas with the spots on a couple posts above on the super skunk?

Wk 5

60 Day Wonder is starting to bloom. My EC is up to 1.7 with a background EC of 0.1, vertical growth has slowed/stopped so I'm switching to bloom nutes on Sunday's rez change.

Super Skunk is also starting to flower, a week later then the 60dw. My rez is 6L's and I'm up to about 12ml of Cal-mag. Still getting some spots on leaves. My nute mix for both last rez change to get up to 1.6 EC is:

24ml PH Perfect Sensigrow A + B
12ml B52
12ml Calmag

I'm at full strength nutes with no burn. Not sure if I'm over doing it or not but the 60dw is looking beautiful, the skunk is showing those spots on some leaves.

First bloom batch will be full strength Sensibloom A + B....24ml, 12ml big bud, 18ml cal-mag. We'll see what EC that gets us to.

I will post pics on another post thru tapatalk....

'Sup Smeg! What pH are you running now in the SS? You should always adjust for pH out of range (5.5-6.5) otherwise she can slow/stop growth due to unavailable nutes and start showing defs. DWC seems best at 5.9-6.0 until bloom, then it seems 6.0-6.1 runs better. pH control is a daily thing.

Hi Tex,
I'm using PH Perfect nutes. After rez change, PH is right on the money at 5.8. Daily I do take readings and PH down to 5.8. If 6.0 to 6.1 is good for flowering then I'll let it creep up to those ranges. Everyday I check PH and EC.

What EC should I be at for week 5? I'm at 1.7 for both with a background EC of 0.1.
