Hi there I am currently having a spidermite problem, I have disposed of the worst affected plant but I have two that are only two weeks away from harvest, does anyone have an effective home remedy to get rid of these I have read about a pepper spray remedy and I am wanting to give this a go but would like to hear from anyone who may be able to contribute any remedy ideas or experience in getting rid of these, I thank you in advance for any assistance or contribution the pepper spray remedy I have at the moment is this:-

1.) Get a sauce pan - fill with one pint of water - put on lowest flame possible (do not boil !!!).
2.) Chop 4 -5 Habanera peppers fine. Chop open seeds and central membranes, as the power lies there.
3.) Simmer chopped peppers for 20 minutes - making sure not to boil (you will destroy the active proteins).
4.) When you put your head over the pan and the wispy-steam stings your eyes, the Calicleaner is ready.
5.) Pour the Calicleaner through a fine mesh strainer - a little fine grit is OK - let cool in a clean bowl.
6.) Pour room temperature contents in a mister spray bottle. Your are ready to apply.

They like high temperatures and low humidity, so wetting leaves regularly can discourage them and In the early stages it may be possible to stop the attack by using an organic cure such as Neem Oil extract, but if this fails, the only real solution is to reach for a chemical product.

Neem oil really is the only thing. Spray bottle, warm water, neem oil and a couple of drops of washing up water to mix the neem oil in. Spray every day including under your leaves, the only thing is, you are close to cropping and run the risk of getting bud rot. Also remember what ever you spray on your buds you will also smoke. Spidermite don't like chives either, in the summer I place pots of growing chives around the bottom of my pots.

I have not found a home remedy that works.
The only thing I use to kill and as a preventive maintenance is Azamax.
If you had to dispose of a plant I would venture to say that you have an infestation.
A seriously thorough cleaning of your entire growspace is recommended.
Good luck:cheers:

This might sound like a stupid idea but it worked for me to get through till harvest. Put a good filter in a shop vac and using just the hose vacuum your plant then spray with whatever you're going to use.

Nothing works better than GREENCLEANER its expensive but worth every penny. I battled those little f*c!ers for years. Then tried the greencleaner last summer when bug problem around here was insane and hella yea! My garden is so clean. The peace of mind is priceless.

BTW it works for powdery mildew and thrips as well. Use full strength lights out. Then ricse with .5% h202 lights on for 2 weeks and as Ronin stated clean everything spray the ceiling walls floor filters everything. Shower b4 gardening and if you have pets bathe them regular like and keep them away from your grow.

I watched a documentary on guys breeding canna for stores in USA. The best thing the said to et rid of these was tie a piece of yarn from your plant to something else. Maybe another plant. Once you do that smear the yarn with honey. The spidermites come out to the yarn for the honey then get stuck. It worked a treat in this documentary. Give it a shot.
