Lighting Suspicious wattage?

Well if you want to go that big.... why not thinking Led??? Less Watts consumption for a Propper Output. Instead of runnin 6 x 600w Hps run 6 x 900w led with a consumption of 400-450w per panel u save a good 150-200w consumption per light but a proper output is guaranteed. I switched from 400 hps to 100w consumption Led and have better results in Densness and yield as with the energy eating hps.

If you're ever nervous about power usage here's a solution I know works from personal experience.

Nip down to Maplins or somewhere similar and buy one pc case with a psu (about £20/$30) for every 600w light you are using. Turn the lights/case fans on by doing the Paperclip Method (don't worry, it's really, really low voltage so no fire risk).

You can set up the cases in an spare room, add a few junk pc parts from fleabay scattered round, get loads of cables and stick a laptop tracking e-coins on top and hey presto you've got a bitcoin mining operation consuming 6000w if you use ten cases(it's really using about the same as an old style 20w bulb plus the laptop). Use this room to try and divert unwelcome visitors asking questions away from your grow room.

If you think you are going to get busted and have enough time you can clear your tent/room of all signs of cultivation but leave the tent and fans in place, put the cases in the tent and close it up and hey presto, your grow room is now a perfectly legitimate e-coin mining setup in a home server room.

None of this will work if you haven't got at least a fake dongle internet connection btw!

Well somebody asked for help in a major panic, asked me to help them carry 10 full size fridges they were going to buy so their workshop landlord wouldn't get suspicious on a surprise inspection.
Now I keep myself fit and don't mind bit of hard work but I'm still a lazy twat at heart and the thought of carrying pc cases appealed much more, plus I can bullshit about pc's and technology for hours!

Good thread, ive been researching power consumption too. Next year im wanting to go alot bigger than my current set up. Here, they do monitor power consumption and the leos are very intrusive. So much so that the price of mids/decent bud is $20 a g or more. Ive looked into solar, wind and generators lol. I have decided to do just led lights, and thats as far as I got :D. Hopeing this thread sparks an idea for me. I will be moveing next year though so maybe in ND they arent so closely watching power like they do down here.

Small scale home growers don't really have much to fear from monitoring, up to a 1000w wouldn't even make a blip on the software they use.
I'll probably make you more paranoid but fitting solar panels et al but still using much the same power as houses without it might be more suspicious than someone using roughly the same as their neighbour's do!
I know a couple of people who don't grow but use solar panels and they get complete strangers knocking to ask about them quite regularly.

im not too sure about this but using KW's you could be likely to overload your circuit and everything shutdown also even if you switch they still have your record brother

Should be ok using a few kw's without overloading your circuitry, an oven uses roughly 2kw for example.

If in doubt get some led panels and run the whole grow off one 13 amp extension lead :Cool bud:

yeh i geuss, but you wouldnt use your oven hours on end, plus everyones circuit is a bit different like if your in a flat or house, but i think if you can find out maximum yours can take and then dont go near that should be good

Edit: and yeh leds all the way from here on out to everyone.
plus like if you only make sure its sufficent for your lot of lights you will blow fuses, cos when it comes to cooking or what ever will overload so i reccomend if useing high wattage lights double check and check again
