Mephisto Genetics Testing for Mephisto

R.O. Unit

MY R.O. Unit arrived today! Woooo! Fast shipping. Set it up and flushed it, now its filling a tote with RO water. The unit I bought is a 4 stage. 1-sediment filter, 2-Activated charcoal filter. 3- RO membrane, 4- Charcoal after filter. This is a small device, 14" tall, by 10" wide, and it can be folded in to be more compact. I'm just using a hose adapter on it right now, later I'll mount it permanent, under the bathroom sink. Th RO unit is rated at 75 Gallons per day, so I'm figuring actual is about half of that lol, we'll see. But I don't need big volume it can run a day or two if it needs to, on the days before res change. Right now, I'm going to refill the jugs the distilled water came in and stash them away.Cost was $64.50 plus $13.95 shipping. Total was $78.45, but I had $6.70 in Ebay Bucks so my final cost was $71.75 shipped. Maybe by the time I need new filters and membrane, I figure about 6 months, I'll order a new until with a bigger capacity, as I plan to expand my hydro system to be an RDWC.

Nice one pop this should sort out your water problems, I'm guessing you are already well stocked with cal/mag.
I will be interesting to see what difference the RO filter makes, I have considered buying one in the past, but din't really feel the need.
If it produces better result with your grow, I may consider it again.

Yep I bought some cal/mag way back when I bought my Growmore nutes, just to make paying the shipping worth it lol! I've started using it in the Kratky bucket as that's on 100% distilled water. I gave it 2ml syringe of cal mag, seems to have been enough, plant looks good. Hoping I have enough RO water to change the res tomorrow, thast will give me a completely fresh start, vs the diluted tap water It has now.

The replacement Chemdogging hasn't sprouted yet, but the Northern Lights x ?? has sprouted and in the clonebox until its ready for the mini kratky bucket. I get some pics up tomorrow, its almost 4:20............... :Sharing One:

Well, I learned something new today. RO water requires a WHOLE LOT LESS ph up than tap water...............I tested and it was at 4.6..........and I was out of ph up! FLEW to the supermarket and got some baking soda. Got it to 6.1 now. Poor plants have had a traumatic day to day with this res change fiasco! Well, at least its in all RO water now. PPMs of Maxigrow are 425. Well up it a bit in a couple days, they've had enough stress for one day!

LOL!!!!!

Yeah, I learned that last grow....there are no minerals for the buffer to attach to and stabilize.

IDK if it helps with you being hydro and all, but I found that putting CaMg in first made it easier to buffer. :)

Thanks Trapper, I'll do that next time.

No problem, Pop :)

Hopefully you can get enough in there to make a difference without having too much for the plants.

It was my fault really, I was so comfortable with DWC using tap water that I just proceeded as usual. Next time, I'll condition and test my water before its in the res, as you should anyway...lol!
