Maybe you can wrap a 3 litre airpot around a 1 litre base from another airpot and that could give the roots more height but still less diameter than a 3 litre?

I thought about doing that but gave up the idea because it wouldn't be able to stand up Also, diameter is not really an issue. I'd prefer to have two pots that are the same size but as long as I can fit two flavors in there I'm content. The smaller one is probably going to yield less which is why I have to make a tough decision between more White Widow or more Durban. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be more White Widow because Durban's pure sativa characteristics were the main selling point for me. I'm not saying Dutch Passion can't have pulled it off with the autoflower but I highly doubt they have. The White Widow is almost certainly going to be fire, though.
The beans had a bit too much time to germinate. In about 36 hours they had both grown a long and curly taproot covered in tiny hair (I think because of the yellow stuff I use every time I germinate a seed - mycorrhiza spores?). The White Widow had even penetrated a few layers of the paper towel.
I was as gentle and careful as I could when I dropped them in the soil. I hope I didn't hurt them much. Will update with pics when they pop out.
Both of the girls have now popped up and they look to be in for a good start. Now I just hope that the All-Mix isn't way too hot for them. The light is still at the same height so I'll try to watch out for any bleaching as well. With any luck these will be my first seedlings that didn't stretch as if some biblical flood was on the way.
The seedlings are now 3 days old and everything is going well so far. Peak temperatures at about 80. Humidity is under 30% (not good, I know). Blumats seem to be working nicely.
The seedlings are still doing good. They'll have to do good without me around for the next three days. That's about as much water as the current res holds. I'll have to upgrade it soon.
I assume you mean the Blumats. They're an automatic watering system that draws water from a reservoir and through a clay cone to maintain ideal moisture in the soil. Easy to use, cheap and so far proving to be more than worth my while. These are the Zimmer-Blumats - not to be confused with the Tropf-Blumats which work a bit differently but pretty much do the same thing.
The seedlings continue to thrive in their arid little closet. These are the happiest seedlings I've had the pleasure to attend to and that makes me feel pretty happy myself.
