Hard question @Mossy The one on the left looks more traditional Indica Leaf shape, the one on the right for range of colour.
But in picking only one, I'd have to go for the one on the left

Me too... ..the ultra indy really attracts my eye..I want to eat them....so for me that might be your first Hint .. brain says ultra Indy..

Information received...second hand from me says Afghan/kush..gives you a range of options to start on.....

@Entombed ...my large pots would not really fit in a tent....but I do the same with 20 ltr/5 gallon pots....20 LTRs...20 seeds..to hopefully mature 10 females... ..


BTW..quick count up...saying 30 per large pot...10 per 5 gallon pot...says probably 140 females there...and I'll have seen and killed the same amount of males.

And Ive got 4 grows a year...so easy to see how I can multiply my test grows/pheno hunts by using multiple pots.... ...

While I'm distracted watching the Blacks...look at the stalk of that one on the left showing all that Red under leaf colour... ...

Look at the small lime leafed girl...the Only lime leaf ... standing proud in the pot...and look at her bud colour...or..the little metalic Pink sitting below her.. she's Special too..... addictive huh...?....I made that colour palette...

Original JEM contained a Black leafed pheno.
Infrequent.
Coal black.
JEM had distinct yellow leaves when she went over..
The Black started from the centre of the leaf..out.
Sometimes leaving a yellow rim around it.
The black yellow mix on the leaf gave a metallic copper sheen.

At ALF #3 Deep Chunk photoperiod was added...Deep Chunk up to then ..all the photos I saw..and the pollen donation were White.

Something in this cross magnified the Black leaf trait out.....(I'll come back to that point later.)..and I was as Surprised as anyone else to see my first Black Auto.

One of the other breeder over at ICmag at the time...was gifted the same DC genetics...and he got the blackest photoperiod I'd seen...so..hedging a guess it was the DC prompting it......


The first Clue I got was...I thought the middle of my leaf was showing a deficiency..it was looking light green in the middles..but it was the black colour...coming in from the tips of the leaves... moving towards the centre.

The ALF#4 Black Dragon black is what I call botanical black..think roses..tulips..the deepest purple is classed as black.

So definition of the black leafed trait up to ALF4 is very easy to define.

Coal black leaf from the middle out..under cover metallic copper. JEM dominant.

Deep purple black..moving in from the outside of the leaf in..Black Dragon dominant.

Simple ...huh...?..

This is the photo I kept to remind me of what I wanted out of Bobby's Widow at the time. Black bud..with the distinct white trics...

I must admit...I can't remember what Full Duplex added to his Bobbys after he got them.. ...but someone will...


You can see how the colour starts on the outside of the leaf...and moves in towards the middle.

You should also notice...that is the coal black trait...not the purple.

When I look at that...I see the red in it..I need no more to know Which black I'm looking for there......


Must admit,after getting over moving it over to full black coverage...by successively breeding Only the girls that Blacked first...

The real Beauty is the one on the left...and it sets my breeder tic off trying to get the perfect blend of black edge..still green centres..and having it Stop there....Not go over fully black..

Right..the Black Leaf trait is a Kush dominant FAULT.

Kush dominants have a hair trigger for a phos deficiency...as soon as their soil pH drops by 0.5 to 1 ph they starts blacking up.

My winter temps drops the pH in my pots...and that is why they all flush up leaf colour in my winter season...
(Bud colour is not cold dependent)

So...what do you notice here...?..

The all blacks tend to be Smaller....first...they came from Original JEM ..a 14 inch 8 week finish original Auto...plus...she is growing phos deficient...sooooo... small..but Stunning......less depth of leaf colour coverage...less deficient..taller...

When I first got the JEM..they were all white...the first bud colour I saw was purple..the second was ohmygod that plant has budrot grey..right in her middle bud... ...and it wasn't until I picked her up I realised it was a colour...and that was the very distinct Hint I got on the right hand pot I'm growing now..that I was actually going to get a set with JEM dominance.

Unique to JEM colour....

Hunting through original JEM I picked up a grey to coal black bud colour..and a Red.
This was the pheno that had the JEM black leaf in..(hunch and homework made me pin her to a Skunk#1 in the Mazar back genetics.)

Chasing both out of the grow took my from JEM regular 5-7 finger leaves...to a pheno with 1-3 leaf blades...red or coal black bud...and very Sativa dominant.

I don't Get Satis medically.. even my own...so that is Why you don't see the phenos much... successively not breeding with them.

But..it is still in there..all the dead relatives are....

History lesson..in the Olden days...

..Autos came in very limited varieties..and I think every Auto enthusiast had a favourite photoperiod cross that they wanted to Convert to Auto...




So.. JEM..highly coloured Auto ..

then the first cross was purely accidental ..
Afghan dom Auto.

Then White Russian (Short Stuffs first Auto Russian) fully Auto

Now..wait..what does anybody need to Convert a photoperiod to an Auto...with the minimum amount of struggle...?

A strong Solid Auto flower base....it would be preferable if they had similar Traits to the photoperiod girl you wanted to convert..but variety was limited... ..

Now I'm sitting with a 3 Auto solid girl... with an assortment of good Afghan/kush genetics in it...

Bit of theory into practice here...I'd converted JEM and the second cross to fully Auto myself..and I Really enjoy a photo to Auto roll.. when you see a huge photo and a tiny Auto with the same traits next to each other knowing they are Sister..with a tiny slip in the genetics..it is Stunning...

The first photoperiod I saw that I wanted to convert was Deep Chunk..and it was because I'm looking at photos in threads thinking.. that's one of mine..I recognise it..then finding out it was a Deep Chunk...I had very similar traits in my Auto....Ding Dong..

Had a Word with the Deep Chunk Keepers.. explained the project..Mighty pain killer...they were fully on board..and got me access to original genetics.. straight out the breeders pocket..before repro.....

All White at the time..but boom..Black Dragon...... going over as Easily as I expected...and 100 times my expectations in beauty and effect...

From the Deep Chunk roll...I took my standard leaf finger count from a JEM 5-7..up to 7-9..and getting a lot more Indica dominant fat head phenos...and that is the direction I should have gone in the first place...instead of chasing the red..but all experience huh..?.... options were always there.. homework and experience affects the choices.

ALF #4... Black Dragon...4 x Auto genetic strong....they escaped to the Dragon Med Team..with a message tied to their legs..in green crayon.....
Please add your favourite Afghan/kush Dominant to me.. please call it something Dragon...so we can Track the line out in Auto History.

It must be a good painkiller..it must have the double harvest point..milky and the ability to Amber..some canna doesn't...and it must be able to Kick from harvest...no cure...coz some med patients can't wait that long for relief.

When it passes all of these tests..she gains her Dragon name....and she's yours..and that is where the breeder name changes.

ALF #4 with an extra cross in becomes their ALF #5..

ALF #4 fully Auto is a colour Dream.....my next conversion was Northern Lights photo from Mr Nice's hailed collection.

A friend had a glorious incense scented NL that really floated my boat... happy hippy high..or floating on clouds left over amber.

Unfortunately..it wasn't typical.....I got 1 plus an incense light in 20 germs...and...the NL selection had a pheno taste/smell I didn't like..they piney high acid pheno ..to my Nose that is a pile of acid vomit..my brain is discouraging that selection.
Later in the grow out I detected baby poo light...which was repellant...and baby poo strong..that transferred to the smoke taste...OMG.....double repellent..spit..spit... Options...and that one wasn't...

Brain said No... listen to your brain.
Before Doctors... people used cannabis for medicine..how did they Know ..they listened to their brains......if it smells repellent to me..(other people enjoy this smell...(think phenos described as pineapple..) It says to me.. don't touch it..with a barge pole.....that is not your meds..
