Mephisto Genetics The Use it or Lose it nutrient Battle, featuring Sour Stomper

Good idea Slow. I'd read that thread again and kudos as Im sure it would help some fresh peeps with germ problems now.
I had a busy few days, and planted these seeds. I made the 7g Maxibloom water and it was 1.0-1.1 EC, but the pH was low. I upped it to 6.0. The AN was about 6.2 pH and MC was as well. Actually, I have been adding a slight dose of pH Up to my MC and haven't checked pH in a while. I am glad I decided to do this experiment. Sometimes we get in the swing of things and don't check pH as often as we should when things go well. This time of year water pH can change in my area, at the change of seasons. Sure enough, it is higher than in Fall now. I will get back to checking pH more often, as I should be doing.

Anyways, they are all in the ground now and in my large tent until I move them to the 4x4. My big tent is warmer and has some open space for them to sprout . I have to move a few things around, but will wait til these pop up. I will revive my seed starting thread on my next seeds. GWK, in a week. Peace, slow

Good tip on checking PH more often, esp if you live where it fluctuates. I check PH always still. And its always the same. After my nutes are mixed its at 5.4 and I PH up to 6.2. I could probably just measure out how much UP to use and just dump it in and it would end up at 6.2 but what's the fun in that. I bought a $200 Bluelab combo meter which I don't use for TDS any more. So it's one expensive PH meter. So I want use it and get my moneys worth out of it. I got too many things that I don't use any more as it is.

It would be nice if you were growing one organically.

Sour Stomper I'm sorry to say is not a top Mephisto genetic. It does produce rock hard buds that smell nice. The power isn't there relative to other genetics and the yield is garbage. I know we have had this discussion before. Once someone comes to the Mephisto buffet they typically leave Sour Stomper by the wayside. Sorry but it's true.

Must be the grower. Sour Stomper has a couple really good phenos. Not a huge yielder, dense small buds. But some of the most grape phenos I have had are from Sour Stomper. My yields are Typically 3-4oz per plant. And this is a nutrient Battle, not organic. You are entitled to your opinion, but calling Sour Stomper garbage just tells me you have never grown it properly. If you don't like the strain, leave the thread. We don't need instagaters.

My buddy gets 12 per plant on most other mephisto genetics. Something like Walter will come in at 10. Yes that is what my friend gets on a Sour Stomper actually a bit higher at 5ish. Extemely hard dense nugs. It has power just not like the others. 3-4 oz per plant is not acceptable in today's world of elite genetics.

The votes are coming in at DG, Ripley's, AVT, SODK, Walter as top genetics. Folks like SS but they immediately switch back to one of the 5 mentioned. My buddy is about to test Fugue State, Creme de la Chem and Tyrone to see how liked they are.

I'm not instigating you. I called the yield garbage which is true. It's missing a major check mark.

Good luck with your testing, sincerely.

You got my attention with Sour Stomper and its at the top of my list to buy next. And I believe that @Dr.Bubbles thinks its one of the best Mephisto strains. He's one of the guys who led the charge to get GWK released again. So when you two guys say its good, I'm a listening and taking notes and pulling out my credit card. I love it when we see good growers get excited about Mephisto strains.

I don’t think we’ve ever said it was a massive yielder but there was a 300g girl on here grown in soil I believe.

We grow sour Stomper 18 per 4x8 under 600-825w she’ll return a kg in 65-70 days. No fuss, Super easy trim, and nice end product.

We need our catalogue to suit an umpteenth amount of growers and styles, there’s something for everyone depending on how you apply your own individual methods, and skills.

Edit: forgot to mention, we’ve never bred our lines for outright size or yield, that’s just a bi-product. But some people need small and fast, others medium and others can grow the larger ones in less numbers and maximize them to full potential.

Cheers

How does Sour Stomper respond to topping? I have two in my current run at 18 days old and I’m tempted to top!

Growers in Michgan are to some degree limited to 12 plants. So size is a key component.

You may not have bred them for size but most are capable and it is repeatable. I would say that Mephisto is doing a great job. Lots of the seeds that I have seen cracked are on par with clone only cuts.
