To any of you out there, I hadent grown new stock toof decay for a long while. I've grown more than my fair share though. I've grown a few different batches worth too. Before mephisto had us shipping, when one person was, when shipping during the one promo got messed up I was part of that debacle, and so forth. So anyway, after my last grow I noticed a major difference in the plant and the grow but I thought I just got an awesome pheno from a new batch. But I've been reading others posts on recent grows and it struck me, it was something awesome about the seed batch. Then I realized... they breed it another generation down, how awesome! I never noticed!
Anyway, that brings me to a talking point, am I the only one who didnt know?
Anyway more on f5 vs f5 toof decay
I've seen a major difference in F5 toof decay and F6 toof decay.

Heres a bit of what ive noticed (and theres more I'll post later on)

Taste: Major difference, F5 were much more floral and less, if any, cheesy flavor... some had no cheese or funk at all and some were very mild. Reminded me of northern lights or even less of a smell. They were less powerful too. Grew less dense, had less trichomes and much less smell. The cheese smell was there, but but like this. It seemed there was just more floral notes to it...

Smoke: F6 smoke is thicker and much denser, hits harder on the throat. It hits stronger on the head and body. It has a much longer lingering tone and people can smell it much farther away much faster and much longer.

Taste: cheesy and still sweet, but has a difference. Dont know how to describe. Not as much berry flavor as it used to but it's still there but now subtle.

Overall: I like it more and prefer this a lot. I assume I mist have just been running through a lot of my old stock for such a long time and then moved away for such a long time that when I finally got new toof decay, f6 has a major difference than f5... I love f6 toof decay.

Any other thoughts? And yes I am positive it was always toof decay

I only bought Toof Decay 1x and it was a long time ago. I was not overly impressed, therefore never bought it again. I had a few nice ones out of the lot ..but not amazing. I like the crosses better than Toof Decay. Like BlueToof Special and Ghost Toof. Maybe you are onto something, as my buddy loved his Toof Decay and he bought way after me. I would have to try a newer batch and compare. My buddy moved and can't take his seeds, so I will grab some to try and see. Peace slow

Bluetoof is amazing as is sweet n sour. Havent tried my ghost toof yet, but I have 5... bluetoof and sweet n sour are great for the hubby's seizures. Bluetoof is the best I've found and sweet n sour is so close a second I wish they'd run more. Cant find anything anywhere near as close. All I know is the Canadian store still has sweet n sour and I want more! I noticed a lot of the originals have strains taken another generation or two such as sour crack, 24 carat to name two that are further along too than ever their 2018 catalogue officially states. I think it's nice to see them further refine the traits to say the least, shows dedication to the strains.
But yeah I saw a major difference in them myself. It was like 2 different strains almost. Not in a bad way but it was like going from a 3rd gen phone to the newest gen phone. Or like upgrading ram on a computer for lack of another example. It's amazing what another generation will do.

Maybe you are getting better at growing as well? That always helps!

Well that also helps too, and I'm sure that's part of it. But there are definite differences to boot. It seems like the traits are locked down further. I'll grab photos of my older grows in a day or so and then throughout this grow in my little tent then compare them and can really get a good comparison.
I'm glad to see them working it down in to even more locked down generations

I am sure you are correct and that is awesome. It does make good crosses, better than the original IMO

From my understanding every time they cross its to lock down a certain pheno. I'm about to run the f7 of sour stomper next go. Already dropped a 24 carat x cosmic queen freebie.

Exactly.. Every Filal generation will be different from the last and that difference will be based on what traits the breeder was choosing to lock down for the new generation. The other thing to keep in mind is the number of phenotypes. There could be as many as 4 different phenotypes associated with the new f-generation. Typically, the higher the generation, the lower the number of phenotypes you'll get. And the higher the generations lock in more of the chosen traits. But how many phenos are associated with each f-generation, and what traits are being selected to be locked in, are the major pieces of info we don't have on the meph strains. But the strain should improve with each generation.

Yeah was my understanding but it just kinda wasnt something I was paying attention to and so I kinda just posted this thread and it's actually a really good talking point and thank you for the information! I wanna hear your thoughts on the f7 sour stomper. Have you run any other new gen originals yet?

Good info! And I wonder exactly what the traits being locked in are this year for mephistos updated "next generation" of originals. Remember when we did that double grape grow off that sparked the lst release of souble grape? I thought that was so cool that they then went back and worked it down another generation. I wonder if during the reworking of things like double grape and some of the even newer illuminautos they found even better traits and were working with those on the new strains and decided to release then?

Postulation...
I feel like mephisto was probably trying to not tell us so we wont dump our old stock as inferior (since it's not at all!).

Anyway, now i am just a very happy camper. But wondering... is this now a standard thing? Will they be reworking all their strains as they age to be further refined?

Oh and by the way. I have a single f5 toof decay seed left (had it stashed away and found it with my stash of Tyrone special seeds) and a few f6 toof decay I can grow side by side this fall if I can find the space.
