Lighting TOPled The Manual.

My first indoor grow with the basic full spectrum 1200w mars 2 version. You can check it from my sing link.
I used them for 3 plants so far 1 of them got cut soon (RIP), One will be finishing next month hopefully with alot alot alot of problems PH mostly. and one new born think diferent that it started from seed under the lights
So here is what I am sure about that lights.
1)They need to be at least 1.6m from the floor of my cabinet to cover the whole of it without I notice any plant stretching. 1.5mx0.85x1.8m cabinet
2) Today I lowered them 35cm above my flowering Auto Durban Poisson(ADP) And hardly covering the whole plant so I ll update on the results later. But the small think diferent show some stretching towards the lights after 10 hours allready
3) After the plants have established a strong root system and start drink some descent amout of water 1-2l per day I lowered the lights at 60cm over the top of the plant and raising it when the plant was at 50cm.
As a result I have a fluffy/leafly bushy plant right now in flowering that was kept under 1m (70-80cm right now at day 50).
4)I do beleve even with toping I wouldnt had achieve that results to keep the plants short with that many tops.At least i didnt went I tryed it outdoors.
5)Giving that infos I am going to install a scrog pannel to my think diferent to keep the plant really short and the lights at max distance to see how they ll work!Cause I have a slight feeling they work better if the distance is bigger.
Alaso the 1200w version Does emmit heat yes yes it does!!! never tryed 600w HPS but for my winter grow the mars2+RVK 200m and I ll be ok and without gas bill for my heating ;)

And try not to laught hard with my enlgish please ;) I do try my best!

Nop... 35cm was too low to cover one single plant properly (it is abit wide one thought) so back at 45-50cm.
Also I dont know if it is from the lights or not but there are close to no resin.. I havent grow any other plant so I cant say if the lights or the plant or me failing as a grower!! :D or maybe cause the plant was stunned for some period it will start produce resin later on (I have my doupts on that)
Also the top of the top buds start getting some purple colour I LIKE IT :)

I've only done one full grow with the 400w general purpose Mars II and this is my first LED so I only have the internet to compare it to.

I did my sprouts under a T5's cause I know what I'm doing when there delicate. Moved them under the LED after the first real set of leaves. For little ones the light needs to be 30+ inches away from the plants. For the most part I parked light there and let the plants grow up to that height. when they got close I moved it up and kept it about a foot above them. The main thing was coverage. The 400 had a solid 3x3 area when vegging but on flower only 2x2 of solid flowering power. Although I felt with turning the plants I was still able to maintain good coverage over a 3x3 area in flower. (ssshhhhh don't tell Bob I turn my plants)

They grew what appear to be good sized, dense, and nice buds Still curing so I'll have a little bit before I can see how they are. I had the same plants going outside and inside. The ones from out side were coated in resin and had amazing odors. the ones under the LED have very little smell and are not nearly as resinous although still sticky. I feel like the light is lacking some UVB and will begetting that to supplement.

Over all I'm quite happy with the light am looking to see how it does on autos.
here my log if you want to check it out.:

I'll probably post more as I think about it. :peace:

Really huh no resin for you too huh ?!
We need to find a Les experter to share some knowledge with us! Maybe I add some hps in there before the grow finish I have 20-30 more days

Great start to the thread guys thanks,I'm hoping it will draw new members in.

One tip I can give you on resin production under lights with no UV is to buy some Advances Nutrients Bud Factor X,I know its expensive but it lasts forever as you only need to use it in the last 2 weeks of feed. It works by tricking the plant into thinking its under attack and the plant will produce more resin. UV increases strength by stressing the plant too.

I have bulk resin production.... my plants are covered in crystals.

With wich mars friend?

it is really expensive lol, Thanks Tang for the heads up, you made my mind up for me, i think a cidly custom spectrum UVA to IR is in order given how cheap these are now.
