I had a member post on one of my threads a UV-C light used to kill PM. I started researching and was wondering if any members use UV-C and if they had tried the small hand held UV-C pocket or regular wands. Some can be had much more reasonable than the current ag-types on the market. Wonder if it kills spider mites? Wonder about using it in a Mylared cabinet (eyes-skin)? Anyone?

UV-C damages DNA, it is dangerous. Its main use is sterilising water. The psoriasis lamps are UB-B and blacklights are UV-A. UV-C will kill spider mites, along with the plant, and any other living thing that it shines on including you.

I have not used uv-c but have looked into it...yes, it can damage the plants....and as a result MUST be used sparingly and with all proper precautions [eyes and skin covered]....it will help control bugs, but the risk is still there...

PM stick to simple things like changing the PH of the leaves with alkaline water, there are a ton of prevention products neem etc. The main cause is high relative humidity that collects on the leaves when the lights first go out. If you can control that with a dehum it shouldn't start. Also good and plentiful air movement.
