Lighting Vipar LED The Manual.

First Vipar COB on Ebay :)

I have been curious about those higher wattage diodes. From what I've read, the 3w ones are most popular atm because they supposidly have the best light penetration compared to the amount of head they produce, so I reckon as long as the temps stay down those high watt diodes should be good to give you a light boost, say maybe as a spot light while u have panels as the main lights on the side which will have a higher spectrum.

I imagine it would be more like hps growing as there are much less light sources, but much more powerful one. So where as with these panels we gotta give them enough distance for the plant to maximize the amount of bulbs it's getting hit by, and let the spectrum mix, with these huge wattage LED diodes, I'd say to try keep it much closer to the panels

If I get one I'll be using it as the central light fixed to the top of the tent, I'm keen to try sunlight cobs so I've mailed Vipar to see if they plan on having any or if it's possible to change the COBs inside this unit for different frequency units through the grow. Probably buy one anyway and open it up, the cob units should be generic fittings so I can source the new ones easily once I know the fitting type.

Be bloody awesome if I can have two Vipar panels as side lighting and the cob for top down.....120w per sq ft! OVERKILL rules :)

Its a good idea... I may have to do the same eventually.. overkill on grows always rule! Do it over the top or not at all :D

I wonder what it would be like if you had LEDs on every wall, including the floor? :D no fluffy buds for me!!

Yeah I need to get a couple more little lights on the sides of my main light to help get more coverage on the outer edges of my 2'x4' tent. I can definitely tell the center 2 feet gets way more saturation. Was thinking of a couple 125w cfls or maybe two little UFOs.

Iv been researching these vipar led's all day and I think I'm gonna purchase one (or two). I'm currently running one ms0006 and was gonna get another but the price puts me off a bit. The vipars seem like excellent value for money so I was thinking; shall I get one big one or two smaller ones which make up the same wattage as the larger one? I'm definitely going overkill with the watts but can't decide on one or two units???

Two! It's been great for moving them round and beam crossover. I was going to add a UFO but just clicked buy on ebay for the flowering cob :)

I got the COB spec off them, 32 x 3w led's per cob unit, 4 cobs per panel.

Bandwidths per cob; 18 x 660nm red
6 x 630nm red
2 x 520nm green (right on the very limit of being pointless but what do I know!)
3 x 460nm blue
3 x 440nm blue

So I'll only be using it to flower, something I feel the panels aren't as good as they could be but if they were they wouldn't be "whole grow" panels.
