New Grower Waira's 11-strain-in-the-membrane outdoor grow

:smoke: Thanks Doobage! Point in fact, after seeing Sapphires grow results using Root organic vs. FFOF, I'm going to try the RO product... I have no idea WTF is up with the FFOF soil; I hear more and more complaints about it, yet there are those who get great results too.. BTW, what did you start the seedlings in, and what was your final soil mix you liked again? I'd love to try the TLO method, but there is just no time now,... I'm going to quiz Cres as well about this, because any more of these bullshit results is going to be quite unacceptable! I need a good starter mix and final mix; the plan is to go right into final pots from seed germ', I'll just place a pocket of starter soil in the center first... Do you see the late germ trend I'm talking about in your seeds too? :smokeit:

Sorry to hear about the UV'S Waira. I think it has to be shitty phenos because mine look completely different. But don't feel bad...my NL looks like shit right now. I think she has a number of deficiencies that I don't have the $$$ to go buy stuff to correct the issue. I give you props because most of your girls started producing buds before mine, and you started yours two weeks after I did

Hey Chief! I've been grinding so much on other fires, I've been lagging on rolling by your place... So, you're hitting some bumps too, huh? Sorry to hear about the NL, bro'...Last I looked you have some nice shrubby girls,...I'll swing by and scope it out!... Sounds like we're both feelin' the steep side of that learning curve....:face: :joint: check ya later :chief:

Well i was doing a TLO before i even knew what tlo was lol I would find a bag on sale read the label after getting AFN info then mix it in..then i started getting amendments and learning about micros so i got better stuff and mixed it in...then..i learned about the cook and wait...so the soil got even better TY X:grat: So all this dint come at once so i got to test the different stages and different mixes and just dumb mistakes while learning and not knowing what questions to ask i learned fast through trial and error. OK seed #1 i bought like 2000$ worth of grow shit then got seed starter from the dollar store lol I germed it on a paper towl on a plat in the kitchen it popped 2nd day seed starter..BURN..back to plate..back to life..in soil..and it grew to be the biggest of the 3. The germ depends on the seeds i think they say if they are grown outdoors then they are a lil tougher skinned and take longer to germ and jump off. Also if its slow up top growth if your conditions are right then should be more root growth down under and a more vigorous growth when it starts to jump form what i see. So almost none of my ladies are in the same soil from me finding sales and mixing in different stages. Just get a plastic tote and start mixing the soils and water it with molasses and phed water to get the life started in it and see the difference. It will be useable right away and get better over time as long as you dont add hot stuff.Molasses Epsom salt and phed water is magic i dont know all the ins and outs but i know it works. Thats all i added till it got too big and i put in sea grow bloom nutes just to slow it down.Garden magic organic potting soil 1 bag CRAP dont use noob bag
FF happy frog 1 bag
espoma organic bio tome starter + with micros
Espoma organic potting mix +with micros
Pro mix ultimate 1 bag +with micros
real psychedelic Mushroom compost 3lbs
Espoma blood meal 1 1/2 cup
worm castings lots lol
green sand 4 cups
dolomite lime 1 1/2 cup
kelp
FFOF 1bag
COCO 2 blocks 1x5gal bucket
Perlite 5gal bucket

So far i think that mix is perfect for autos.I havent seen one flaw or slow growth yet with the 2 seeds i have going ATM,I lost a hole plant less one branch with one leaf and now its about 15-16 inches tall with just the tlo and water. And the smell comes out early and stronger! I know my mix is not perfect tlo but i dont need to add anymore base soil bags so ill harvest and mix it back in and add micros and keep it movin. My first ones got so soil burnt im ashamed lol

Now that i think of it maybe the garden magic wasn't so bad.Just dont put any crap soil in at early stage.it was cheep had sticks and stems and bugs in it but bugs are gone and the sticks will be composted over time and feed the micros keeping the soil viable longer and adding different waste nutes for growth.

Dooby}-- Thanks for the recipe bro', and if I get the opportunity someday I'm certainly try it, but as it stands it's way too much in volume for I need, and leftovers, like great seeds, will be in a wasteful purgatory.... This will be my last chance to grow for while... **** The seed issue I think is just plain bad luck; surely the seeds we get sent from various companies aren't from indoor and outdoor stock- those preggo girls likely have their own private little paradise inside the facilities! :ladies: That's why some plants make so very many of them; in nature, so many of them never make to maturity for a host of reasons.... but when you get just 2, and 1 turns out to be a turd, it's a pisser! :cuss: I'm off to scope your thread! :smoke:

Yea its not really a recipe lol Its more like gumbo lol and dont worry about having too much soil ..it will just be cooking and super ready for the next round when you get ready. It sounds like allot of soil but its really not plus i have some thats not bin mixed in yet from the first round still going at day 80+.I just kinda want to get off the NUTE train so many of the same things re branded ..but thats not to say i wont test new things and keep options open..so many nutes just feels like im a consumer instead of informed ya know lol Just look at Max Yield mag and see what im saying lol Only nutes i think i want to do is for bloom.May try dutch pro and canna and be done with testing till i see some real leaps forward.Im lucky to have a good woman that puts up with my spending and partakes of the sweet sweet herbals LOL

<--* say bye-d-bye to these leafy butt plug UV's, they're not worth the mb's wasted for pics anymore; I'll let them finish, probably have to turn them into hash... more sucky! I had high hopes for this strain, and they were either just plain intolerant (easy to grow, my bollocks!), or I got shitty pheno's, maybe both..*
{WEEK 8-ish}
:toke: The gals are progressing nicely, buds be fillin' out,...! trich' development looks great, with aromatics becoming more and more distinct for each (I upped the resolution for the pics now :brow:), so I hope the quality follows,...Except for the B Lee's, it sure as shit isn't gonna be yield. I'm not usually one to beam sunshine up peoples' vent ducts, including myself; that said, for some of these plants, their net probably won't even cover their seed+material costs, and that is pathetic! Starting out, my expectations for size/yield were modest, really, given the hiccups that were surely coming on a first grow...But I gotta say some of these results have my ass feeling uneasy,.. (LOL!) The MI5's, RRF's, UV's, HBD's(male; seed micro-runt) and PK's (runty-leafy; seed micro-runt) are all on the "A' list for the WTF Awards...(Pics are deceiving- many of them are 1' or less)... The rest are merely okay to nearly WTF, (B. Lee's aside)... whaddya gonna do, ay? ..... Several are now starting to shut down some of the older sun leaves, so my guess is in a couple-few weeks most of this shorty-show will be done... only the BLee's look to be finishing around 12 weeks, which is expected from this strain...
* RD petite pheno, while silly small, is very cool in it's scaled down bonsai-like build, and the aroma of the budlettes is fantastic! Note the strange surface texture of the leaves, which are also flat like they were pressed; pistils are nearly absent,...I like it! The Hercules is much the same way; I can tell it wants to go pine-tree in build, and a large one would probably be an excellent yielder,... we'll see how it fills out...
Waira, you are one funny cat, you always make me laugh with your humorous and very descriptive writing.
Also love your attitude on marching forward on this very steep learning curve on growing these little rascals.

Max + reps for who you are.

foliar 1/2 strength spray of GreenAll chelated Fe/Mn/Zn/Cu + 2-0-0 N, plus some in soil as well; treated w/spray 2 times over several days, problem corrected...
Now to go with this fabulous product (4 metals in 1, + N!), you'll need a water spreader (wetting agent), something that will make the soln. cover and sheet over the leaf surface instead of beading up (max. surface area= max. absorption).....This might be a bit tough to find, and/or expensive if from the typical horti' shop fancy brand (poke around online, I forget the brand/product name), unless.... Romeo (as in the fertilizer co.) makes a product we use at the nursery that is absolutely tits! Clear, soapy-gelatin-y consistency, no real odor, harmless so far as I've seen... my litmus test for product gentleness is if it doesn't fry some of the wispy cloud forest type orchids, it's all good! Ag' supply places may have it, or order direct from them (romeopacking.com- call them and ask about it), I think 1gal was $20-ish, and goes a long way, useable with pretty much anything you spray, plus excellent soil penetration aid! ... GreenAll is the shizzle, mate! It smells like a 55gal drum of rusty nails, it's so metal-rich,..... :lick: LOL! 2-3 shots over 7-10 days should see nice improvement... Oh yeah, sprayers, a large gardeners best friend! I got a real nice 1.5gal unit made by Round-Up, (of all co.'s!), with a 5 year warranty (!), from Home Despot, about $25; a great smaller unit 1L Solo model 418, excellent design, (look online for a retailer, or order direct,...
Never made it to town to get the GreenAll chelated Fe/Mn/Zn/Cu + 2-0-0 N,so I just decided to mix up a foliar spray with what I had on hand: 1 tbls. each per gallon of blood meal, High N Mexican Bat guano, Sea Kelp, and fish emulsion. Fried all my plants.:cuss: Just kidding :D The roots must have gotten into my TLO and the leaves are looking just fine now, not as green as yours but much better, thanks, and I will still pick up some of that GreenAll chelated Fe/Mn/Zn/Cu + 2-0-0 N. Sounds like a great product.

Yea, I do have a 3 gallon Field King Sprayer (sticker on front, states recommended for Round UP.. Actually that is all I use it for here at Stick Farms, primarily to try to keep the Knapp Weed under control. Will have to get another for the girls. Also have LOTS of surfactant.

Anyway I will get caught up with you on the rest of the news from Stick Farms via PM.

The Stickster.

Awww, sorry about the UV's... Hope you at least get some good hash... Do they have decent crystals to make up for the "short"age? << see what I did there? I'm sure changing your soil mix (roots organic or otherwise) will make a difference for your next crop. It's a bummer to have some bad phenos :cuss:, but if your overall grow is unsatisfactory (thank goodness for those B. Lee's!!) it's likely also a common element in the environment.

I LOVE the wtf awards!!! I have a couple nominations from my garden for ya, too! :pimp:

Looks like you are right on about the accelerated yellowing, good sir! It'll be fun to watch yours change colors too. Every day I see more "done" yellow leaves and more "fading" green and yellow leaves on some - others are *barely* starting to fade yet. It's day 63 for mine, so mid-latish 50's for your girls... I was expecting them to run a little longer being that they are in the sun, curious how long we have til harvest! :D

:joint: Sooo, what am I gonna do? I gonna try again, real soon like, with HighRise uber gear!! :dance2: I've decided to steer away from Seed, Inc., and am fired up on having a go with what is uncontestably some of the finest genetics out there in Cres-san's good works! Plus, I still have 2 Crm. Mandarins and 1 Crm. Caramel to run as well,... once again it will be a multi-flavor grow, just fewer varieties... The season is as prime as it gets too; early fall is our best weather here, and during vegging I'll have the Max-sunlight hours as well,.. just hope the fog isn't too bad this summer! ... :D Seeds are ordered, and a new plan is brewing....:D

SWEET!! Glad to see your enthusiasm is sparked for your next grow! :cough:  Looking forward to seeing what you have going on when the time comes...

The sun is almost off the ladies and it's still light out, I just might get some pics taken tonight after all... Catchya later! :buds::smokebuds:

003.jpg004.jpg<--Star Ryder's- Damn, I wish that purple one got bigger...these two are making nice, crystally, proper calyx:leaf ratio buds...
002.jpg001.jpg<--Hercules & MI5- Herc' is starting to 'tree' up, in miniature; buds look kinda funny- skinny, but with large calyx's, trich's look good too; MI5 is really trying to squeeze out more quality (not so leafy) bud
005.jpg006.jpg<--PK- Incredible color! great tric's,..TFB it's leafy :cuss:
007.jpg008.jpg<--Red Dwarf's- both filling out better now, Petite is a bit airy, but both are sparkly and heavenly aromatic... ambient aroma is very different from when it's touched, and changing subtly...
009.jpg010.jpg<--RRF's- 1st one is pretty leafy still, but 2nd is improving; also getting sticky looking! sun leaves shutting down quickly now too.. I removed several all-done ones off both already, to get some Sun down inside more..
011.jpg012.jpg 016.jpg <--B. Lee's!- 1st one is the shorter, w/ denser bud build, 2nd one (2 pics by accident)looks exactly like the 1st that's been taffy-stretched 6" taller! ..Still the champs of this run, but they'll come in last for sure...

014.jpg013.jpg<--Cobra's- shorty only this time,... because I took an extra B Lee pic instead by not paying attention :joint: LMAO!! definitely a foned stool move! :D Hey, I got a killer dual lens c/u pic of one of her cola tops that worked!...

{WEEK 8}
Home stretch baby! Sun leaves shutting down more and more, buds are bulking up some, trichome development is progressing along with increasingly distinct aromas from the girls,...a little cooler weather has slowed things down some, but as usual that'll change soon; looks like the RRF's are in the lead so far, but no positive sign of bud leaf color change just yet... I can now tell that several of these strains 'wanted' to do better, but just couldn't get over the earlier trauma. A couple big picture lessons learned on this grow: auto's are not very forgiving plants, relative to their photo' cousins; we've all seem the Company claims about how 'easy' a given strain is to grow,... sure, if things are just peachy 24/7! :help: I'm not sure what the actual determining factor(s) is from strain to strain that make one more tolerant vs. another,... certainly the % ruderalis is part of it, along with any potential quirkiness in the photo parentage,... Case in point, the B. Lee's, which handled everything with aplomb, but were clearly, from the very beginning, showing more photo' growth characteristics than the others... I'd like to hear from the experts on all this for sure! Regardless, I'm shocked at how bad consequence seems to flow downstream time-wise from troubles early on in the grow... Also, I can't help but wonder if that stunting doesn't just reduce the size of the plant and alter it's shape, but negatively alter the calyx:leaf ratio as well.... Case in point, the UV's, a strain with good rep' and reported size, but for me turned into >1ft sticky leaf plugs!.... It's like the stress causes the plant to go into 'ruderalis survival mode', reducing height, branching, and even calyx density,... maybe because (potential) seed production is an enormous energy and material drain on a plant... Hmmm, something else to quiz the experts about...:toke:
Meanwhile, back at planning HQ, I've started the 2 Crm. Mandarines and 1 Crm. Caramel seeds to soaking,... picked up a few Smart pots 5 gal, Roots org. soil and HF to start them in. The plan is to go direct into final pots, with a pocket well of HF to start the seedlings in after they crack and shoot a little... HF has slightly better nute's in it than Light Warrior, but not quite as rich as RO,... theoretically! The HR seeds will come soon, I hope....time's running out here.... :cough:
