There are so many strains available it's overwhelming. I am trying to find suitable medicine for 1) Insomnia 2) Cancer curing 3) Anxiety. Many strains will affect people differently. I just want to be in the right ballpark.

I see recurring descriptions such as
Blueberry
Critical
OG
Kush
Mango/Pineapple
Skunk
Haze
Diesel
Cheese
Purple
Jack
Afghan
Bubble Gum

I assume that many of these names describe the color, smell and taste, but do any of them indicate the type of growth, effect or high? For instance a guy I know says he likes blueberry strains, but won't smoke anything labeled "purple". ( I think that's what he said) He obviously had a preference.

I understand the differences between Inica, Sative and hybrids and also the effect of harvesting sooner or later, and eating vs smoking.
I chose to grow Northern Lights and a high CBD strain because I thought it was a safe bet for what I am trying to treat. To me, I do not want to ingest anything that may bring out my natural anxiety or paranoia.

Thx for the help.

Hey bro.. for anxiety and insomnia purposes its best to allow the plants mature until the trichomes have at least begun to amber..
Indica / Indica dominant strains are usually best.
I have smoked NL with clear and amber trichomes...the clear made me very anxious but the amber was perfect...
Plenty of info relating to cancer treatment in the Medical Section too..:Sharing One:

Yes, I went to a collective a few years ago and told them I get anxious when I smoke. They gave me a few indica dominant hybrids.. I tried them several times and didn't enjoy the experience at all. I think that many commercial growers don't take time to let the buds mature and then cure correctly. I'm looking forward to smoking my own. :) Thx for sharing!

Have you checked out leafly? You can do searches based on desired effect and what symptoms of your own you would like to tackle. From my experience the reviews and effects are spot on. Obviously like you said it all depends on the grower of the plant as well. I hope that helps out!

Oh yea.. Leafly is the bomb... Lots of great info.

I think you're correct there. I also agree with duggy about the trichome color, for me personally the more amber the better. I usually let my plants go all the way with most trichomes amber before I chop them down. The CBD level increases as more trichomes turn amber, which allegedly helps counter the anxiety feelings experienced. I also like that 'Couchlock' feeling with high CBD content.
