New Grower Where is the best place to purchase stuff to start a grow?

It may sound strange, but you might actually try your local/regional hydroponics and garden supply shops, including getting best price matching from them. Here (in U.S.), essentially every shop orders from all the same manufacturers and suppliers (middlemen). My local hydro shop will match any domestic (U.S.) online vendor or Amazon price (but not Ebay prices) - that is match the best price I can find including shipping. The shop gave me this option after I told them their other option was to not get any of my business at all. Now they get it all - I get best prices and free advice too.

So, go into your local shops, tell them you simply will not pay their normal prices, and ask if they will match other vendors best prices. They may well go for that deal.
