Ok, I can see major advantages of using auto's. However, I am growing outside. Is auto really the way to go? Or should I do a couple of auto's for the quicker turn around, and then just regular or feminized seeds?
This is an outdoor guerrilla grow. I have some really great land and pretty good natural soil there. Also plan on setting up a fence to keep out deer and bears. Will have to work out some other logistics as well. Like setting up a barrel to collect rain water.
I've been reading over the guides here and any specific advice you want to give me would be great. I'm looking at starting in the spring after the last frost.

Thanks

Welcome to our forum. If you live in an area that has a long growing season and don't worry about an early frost go for photos. You could always mix some autos with them for a earlier harvest.:smokebuds:

Welcome mate, I`d do a mix as well(early harvest and see which do better with your enviroment)! :peace:

Like namvet25 said.
It mostly depends on the lenght of your growing season, the average temperatures and rainfall.

First, most important thing - you should think what your goals are - it's very important to make it really happen.
The other most important thing before setting up the g. grow operation is to chose good strains and have a fairly good idea of how can those strains perform in your area. Or you can just experiment, it's always an option:)

I mean, if you have a stealthy place where you can easily grow big plants, use it for early photoperiods(like HighRise strains) or superautos(specific Stitch's strains). The normal autos will probably need a lot of light if you want them to get big and make some product. They are probably more suited for a more open area like a garden or a private no-trespass area.

You can say something more about your weather(grow season) and the grow area, maybe we can help you make better choices with more info.

I agree if you are doing a guerrilla grow I would go for photos... What I do is start my photos indoors from seed in March then come spring after memorial day I place them outdoors already at a height of about 4-5 feet tall. Here is my grow, the large ones in the back are the once I started early from seed and took tons of clones from them IMG_20130827_190621.jpgIMG_20130827_190814.jpgIMG_20130827_190616.jpgIMG_20130827_190835.jpgIMG_20130827_190840.jpgIMG_20130827_190846.jpgIMG_20130827_190855.jpgIMG_20130827_191034.jpgIMG_20130827_190555.jpgBlue Dream on the left and og13 on the right I am 6'5'' and these photos were taken a few weeks ago..smoke.jpg Next year I will do as namvet said and put some auto's out with them for a early harvest or 2....

Got dang td those aren't plants there damn trees!

Thanks Nam, The Blue Dream are monsters in the making for sure I recommend them to anyone if you are going to size. Next year I will start them in January and place them in 100 gallon pots instead of 30 gallon with a hoop house over 12 of them. Out in cali with their long veg time they get about 10-15 pounds off from a single BD. The OG13 got large to but more bushy and thick then tall though. I cant wait to throw some Think Different out next year too but I will run them indoors until they enter bloom then out doors just so I can jack them up with co2 for lots of vegitive growth.

Not sure if you have any lights to grow indoors TBphenom but if you do and you are going for monsters I would start indoors. I am located in Maine so we have a short season that's my reason to start indoors

Around Pennsylvania area. The particular area is surrounded by woods and hills. The spot is well hidden but has a decent light opening.

So I think I may go with some of both auto and photo. The photoperiod trees just get MUCH bigger. I'm not looking for tons of green, just enough for me and some very close friends. A couple of auto's will get me something faster and then photoperiods will get me through the entire year.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to store the harvest? I was thinking either mason jars or a vacuum seal machine.

Also any suggestion on strains either auto or photo would be welcomed as well. I like a lot of hybrids. Had some auto Osiris a while back, and it was a good blend of sativa and indica that was grown outdoors in my local area.

Thanks again!

Hey just found something for you. Here is a link to find strains for your climate. http://en.seedfinder.eu/research/climate/ Just google your latitude and longitude and once you have that enter it into the boxes and it will search good strains for your area and it also tells where you can buy the seeds...

Mason jars work best imo and I use a lot. I work for the company that makes Ball Mason jars so I order them by the pallet for friends and my buddy local hydro shop. I use half gallon for storage and smaller for my personal head stash..
