Live Stoner Chat Windows 8 sucks

Just got a new (gift) notebook laptop. It's OS is Windows 8. I absolutely hate it. Now I cannot load photos from my Olympus D-580 Zoom camera.

Anyone seem to dislike this new Windows 8 OS?

The last version of Windows I actually enjoyed was 3.1.

Windows has pretty well always sucked.

I'm running win8 and I can download a doz pics in under 30 sec. ... hook your camera to your computer, go to desktop app ... then files and your camera should show up under computer files ... highlight pics and move to picture files ... for me win8 was a nightmare until I discovered using the Desktop app made it 'normal' again ... good to see BayLee420 back up and running ...

I'm on my old Vista Windows7 OS now typing out this. The new notebook is updating 45 updates.

Windows 8 is the worst piece of s*** they have come up with yet! And I'm a computer professional and saying this! They haven't screwed up this bad since Millennium Edition! I've dablled with Linux for a long time and finally said Goodbye M$!!

This pc is running Linux Mint and I'm quite satisfied with it. And you know what? I didn't have to install any other software to use it! it comes with several good programs. I edit all my pics in Gimp, a graphics program. NO antivirus software to slow things down, NO antimalware progs either. Now some people running specialized applications, or in certain business environments, are stuck with windows. The only thing anymore, holding back adoption of Linux, is people's "set in there ways" attutudes about change.
I wish that was all it was with how I feel about windows 8 but the whole interface is a big step backwards. I been messing with computers a long time and can't for the life of me figure why you'd go from an active desktop environment, to a static one.

And Who the hell wants to SEARCH for everything????? Makes me feel like a return to DOS.................

Ya know, Win 3.1 had useful features they dropped in later versions, Like tiling windows on one desktop. you could drag and drop between multiple open widows! THAT os what windows was meant for. BUT, people think a pc should work like a toaster, push one button and it will do everything for you............Its sad really. A pc is the most powerful information tool ever and it gets relegated to sending email and rotting brains with Facecrook, err....facebook.............
