anything I can get my hands on!
Hey!
Well here we go. I was generously gifted some Mephisto Grape Crinkle so when the Short Stuff Himalayan Orange Diesel cam in I decided to do a quick run of them both. I also decided to journal them as I am doing some things differently and it was time to do a journal.
First off let me start with a big caveat! I still think of myself as only a moderately skilled grower and will be experimenting a bit (another reason for this journal). Be careful with trying some of these things, they may not work.

One of my "experiments" is to re-use my soil. The soil is a mix of Fox Farms Happy Frog and perlite at about 2:1 FFHF : perlite. I emptied the pots and removed most of the roots. I rinsed it fairly well hoping to flush it out a bit. I really think I will move towards a more organic method with the goal of TLO. But that's in the future!

About the set-up. I have a 4x4 tent, 1000 watt MH that I will run at 600 watts, I will be using 3 gal. felt pots filled with the above mentioned soil mix. I will be using Rock nutrients with a few other things mixed in, mostly EarthJuice Cal-N-Mag and Neptune Seaweed and Fish.

My new method of germing and starting is back to basics simple. (I hope!) I put three beans in some distilled water that has a very slight bit of Clonex. They sat on a heat mat for almost 24 hours. They all popped nicely and had a wee bit of root tip showing. I hollowed out the center of each pot and used a red cup to form a hole about 4 in. deep. I filled that with some light warrior seed starting mix from Fox Farms. Watered each of these cores with distilled (it was all that was handy, no other reason) with .5ml Supercharger to 1L water. I dropped a bean into a small depression and covered it. Then I placed a plastic cup over it to act as a humid dome hoping to make a happy environment for the seeds. My garden room is in the basement so it is still a bit cool. I am running my light for some heat. The temp at the soil level is about 67F. Hope that will keep the warm enough to sprout.

That's where I am this morning. The beans were put in the water on 4/18 around 8:00 pm and put in the dirt 24 hours later.

So follow along and see how I do! I am excited and hope for a good grow! Let's see what a few years of SOP growing can do, heck let's see what I can do!!!

I'm sure 67 is fine I grow in a basement as well the temps go to 67 or 68 when lights off..... I run 20/4 so the soil never has time to cool off I think that's the key.

Anyhow I'll be watching as I have some crinkle myself. Sadly they are in the on deck circle so it'll be a bit.

Happy growing brother can't wait for the show

Here we are in our shiny new pots with their fancy green trays!

Day -1
Ok Looking pretty good tonight. Two of the three have shown above the soil a wee bit. I turned off the light and put one of those oil radiators in there. Temp set to 79F or so. Hope to see the rest pop up soon, like in the morning.

Day 0
Not much change from yesterday. Temp is 77 F this morning so that is set and stable. The insides of the domes still damp. Moisture and temps good for germination. Hope to see some cotyledons soon!!

I have them coming so will watch yours first. :-) I have returned to starting my seed under cups as well. Seems for me to work the best.

Hey Blessed great to have you along!
I hear you on the starting. I was getting complicated, it worked well for a bit but when it started to go wrong I really did not have a handle on just why. I think this way is simpler and I am a firm believer in KISS. Simple is better!
