Chocolope transplanting outdoor

07-03-solo-cups.jpg
:420::420: Hi fellow growers and friends,

For the last several weeks, I've had these Chocolope seeds in solo cups and just had to find space in the tent. I found the leaves were starting to reach the edge of the cup and it was time to get them into a larger pot. Time to get these planted outdoors!

I just got these 5-gallon smart fabric pots and had a new soil mix that I could start using. I was also able to use the rootwise (microbe complete) and sprinkle it directly to the roots before adding them into the soil. After getting them transplanted and into the new pots, I started moving them directly outdoors. Then I gave them a good slow watering until the pots felt soiled. I added a top layer of mulch to help trap in the moisture as it gets really hot in the afternoon here, these are just laying around my yard so it's easy to use.

I found another use for these seed pods from the tree in my yard. When I was lifting the fabric pot to see how heavy it was, I noticed it was moist underneath and that I could just use the same mulch below the pots for more aeration. It's just another experiment to help combat the heat, I suppose.

The other solo cups you see here with the humidity domes are the new Mephisto seeds I just started germinating. The Forgotten Cookies and Skywalker will be apart of my next run, so I wanted to get these ready and next-in-line. :greenthumb:

I'll keep you all posted on these next autoflowers and I'm excited to start a new blog once I finish these Mardarine autos up. ✂

It's a really curious experiment in growing these outdoors. I have 4 plants that I've had to gate completely off from my dogs as my boxer female (Daisy) just loves to eat these plants. She actually uprooted two of my first plants, so that's one of the challenges amongst the heat as well.

I have a large mesquite tree that has a really nice canopy cover which proves adequate shade and privacy for these plants. I placed them at the bottom of the tree so they get really good morning sun but in the middle of the afternoon, the tree filters out the direct sun.

Later in the day, they get some more as the sun starts to set and I do run the sprinklers so I have had to think about that a little to not over water these plants. It's a learning experience to keep them watered and to see how well they grow without more direct sun exposure.

For what it's worth, I did try to place a few of the plants in more direct sun for a day but they were in shock and had some leaf burn. So for now, they seem to be in a really happy place under the tree and I'm adding old window screens to help block some of the sprinkler from watering and throwing my schedule off. :)
